Muerta Linda Nicho - Dia De Los Muertos Shrine

Hi everyone, let's keep the shrines rolling!  I hope you're having a wonderful day.  I wanted to pop in and share another one of my new Dia De Los Muertos shrines.

For this shrine, I tried to experiment with different ways to create texture on metal.  The left side was my attempt at embossing on metal.

This shrine is adorned in roses, glitter and a Virgin Mary charm.

It also has a bit of bling and tinsel just for fun.

This beautiful little shrine is available for purchase over on Etsy.  Thank you so much for stopping by, have a beautiful day you guys!!

Muertos Tag: Paper Wings Productions Anything Goes Linky Party

Happy Friday!  Today I'm playing along with my friends over at Paper Wings Productions.  This year they've added Linky Parties so we'll have a chance to share our Paper Wings Productions creations on their blog.  This month's theme is Anything Goes so I pulled out my favorite PWP stamps and got to work.

I've been trying to reorganize my studio lately and one thing that has become abundantly clear is that I really need to use up my scraps.  So almost everything I used is from my scraps stash.  This tag was in my drawer.  It was a failed PWP design team project but I thought you what, it'll work for a mixed media tag.  It already had the beautiful yellow and pink inks and stamped papel picado from the Dia De Los Muertos Hombre stamp set.

I grabbed the Liquitex Glass Beads just because I hadn't used them in awhile.  All I did was spread it over the tag with a pallet knife.  Then I added some fusible webbing that was left over from the Fall Nesting Components kit.  After all glass beads medium dried I started layering and completely forgot to take progress pics, sorry.

The next step was creating the heart. I used a Heidi Swapp stencil to guide me a bit.  I added three rows of the roses also found on the Dia De Los Muertos Hombre stamp set.  I actually embossed the roses with fine detail black embossing powder.  I wanted to continue with the textural feel of the tag.  I added a bit of color to the roses with Dylusions inks.  I applied the ink with a water brush.  Then I outlined the heart with Liquitex ink.

The honeycomb pattern is the sticker outline from one of the very first Paper Wings mixed media kits.

I used a mask to arrange the muertos close together and colored them in with Distress Markers.  I fussy cut them and then just slipped them in.

I also added some found jewelry, patterned paper scraps, leaves, roses and ribbon.

The heart up top is actually an earring, pretty cool right.  The stud is going through the hole in the tag and the chain is connected to the earring's backing.  Well thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll join the Paper Wings Linky Party too!  Here is the link:  Anything Goes Link Up Party.  One lucky participant will win a $25 gift certificate so go get linked up!!

Crazy in Love

Hi everyone, I've got a really quick post to share with you today.  I've been a bit under the weather lately so I'm gonna keep it super short.

I've managed to get some work done when my meds kick in and I wanted to share my latest canvas.

This is a small wooden canvas, 6x6 I think and it's 1.5" deep.

I used acrylic paints a rubon for the sentiment and a stamp for the lace border up top.

I love the bohemian vibe of this piece.  Okay folks, that's it for today!  Thank you so much for stopping by, hugs to you all :D

I'm so thankful for all of the wonderful blessings that God has given me, from my family to this amazing creative journey I started a year and a half ago and of course all of you.  So for today's project, I created a 10x10 mixed media canvas to add to my home's fall decor.

I knew that I wanted to use rich colors and texture so I started by using the molding paste debossing technique that I shared in this video: Technique Tuesday.  I stamped the molding paste with the following stamps: Writing Cling Stamp, Text Cling Stamps and Fancy Leaf.

I painted the canvas with Golden fluid acrylic paints in raw sienna and burnt umber.  The debossing technique gives the paint areas to puddle creating gorgeous texture and depth.

The final layer of my background is a piece of muslin fabric.  Muslin is a really great fabric for stamping because it has a tight grain so you're able to get a clean impression.  I stamped my fabric with the fancy leaf in the Mini Thanks Cling Stamp set and then colored them in with Distress Markers and Dylusions inks.

Next I moved onto creating this beautiful flower.

I cut the flower using the Tim Holtz Tattered Floral Die and cut two sets.  I stamped the individual flowers with the Music cling stamp.

Then I flipped them over and sprayed them with Dylusions and Lindy's Spray Ink.

With the flower assembled, I dug into my clip art and found these two beautiful images.  The pumpkin is from the Sept NC kit and can be found of the Fall Clip Art sheet.  The beautiful vintage women is from the June NC kit and is on the Summer clip art sheet.  I stamped "very thankful" on a strip of muslin.

I used a scrap piece of iron for the base of the flower, inking it with red paint to tie into the flowers in my vintage lady's hair.

I dusted the edges with more red paint to create visual balance and highlight all the beautiful debossed texture.

To finish off the right edge, I added a strip of crotchet ribbon.

The little finishing touches I added include: ribbon leaves, small inked roses, a small heart and metal leaf bobby pin.

Thank you so much for joining me today, I hope you've enjoyed my post.   If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me or PM me on Facebook.  Okay, now it's time to head on over to Carrie's Blog!!

Purple Rose, Sacred Heart Calavera

Happy October everyone!!!  Have you all pulled out all of your fall and Halloween decor?  I haven't, lol, this is my favorite time of year and I love decorating for it but I just don't know if I'll have time to do it this year.  My little guy started middle school this year so we're staying very busy between homework and extra curricular activities.  I've also signed up for two shows back to back to I'm working really hard to make sure I have enough inventory.

This is my latest mini skull.  I'm not a huge fan of purple but I know a lot of people are so I thought it would make a good color choice.

I used a large rose stamp and a retired PWP heart stamp.  Speaking of Paper Wings, they just released their Oct. Nesting Components kit today and OMGosh you guys, it's AWESOME!!  There are actually two sets available this month, the normal set which is Halloween themed and a mini set.  Okay so hold on to your seats....the mini set's theme is DIA DE LOS MUERTOS!!!  You have to get these sets before they sell out, so hurry!!!  Here is the link to each set:

Go check them out, you will not be disappointed!!

I'll be adding this skull to my Etsy shop tomorrow.  I'll keep it there til the show this weekend. So if you're interested in this one, get it before Friday or you might miss it.  If it doesn't sell over the weekend, then I might add back in or take it to Homestead.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and have a wonderful day!!!

HUGS TO YOU ALL :D

Dia De Los Muertos Skull

Today I have a fun little paper mache skull to share.

This about 6" x 3 1/2".  I finished another one yesterday that I'll share with you tomorrow.  I have one more prepped and ready to go so I'll probably try to get that one done between today and tomorrow.  After that, I think I'll take a small break from the skulls to work on my DT assignments.

For this skull, I did a combination of stamps and freehand.

The big flowers are from a stamp set that I've had in my stash for many, many years.

Here's a look at the other side.

The roses are from the Paper Wings Productions Dia De Los Muertos Hombre stamp set and instrument is from the Paper Wings Productions Dia De Los Muertos Mujer stamp set.

Thanks so much for stopping by, have a beautiful day!
