Honey Cake Birdhouse

Hello, Hello!!  I hope your're have a wonderful day :D
Today I've got a super simple but very cute little bird house to share with you today:

Isn't that sweet!  This is a little wooden birdhouse that I picked at Michaels.  I covered in some papers from the My Mind's Eye Six by Six Honey Cake paper pad along with some scraps from my stash.

It was a bit of a challenge to the papers on good but I finally got them to stay and coated them with a light white wash.

To finish it off, I simply added some scraps of fabric and some Stickles for a little bit of shine.  So there you have it, simple but oh so cute!!

Before I head out, I'd like to send out a warm WELCOME to my newest bloggie friend Barry!  Thanks for following along Barry!

Have a WONDERFUL day and THANKS so much for stopping by!!!!

Valentine's Day - Linda

Hey there!  I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!!  I'm super excited about the project I'm sharing with you today.  I'd like to introduce you to Linda (which means pretty in Spanish):

All of my Day of the Dead projects have sold so well that I thought I'd do a Valentine's Day version and I'm so pleased with the way she came out.

I started out by painting her face.  I chose to stick with the traditional Valentine's Day colors of red, pink and white.  I did most of it freehand but did use Paper Wings Production stamps for the flowers on the temples and the heart on her forehead.  With the face done, I moved onto building the body.

First I built my stand using cardboard and the lid of a jar.  I drilled a hole and inserted a dowel,  then I wrapped floral wire around the dowel, secured with glue and formed the arms.  Next I wrapped all of the wire with white floral tape.

Once the arms were all wrapped up, I added clay to form a torso and let it cure for 24 hours.

Once the clay was dry, I painted the torso and arms with gesso.  Then I used the packaging from the Donna Downey stencil that came in my PWP Jan Mixed Media kit to make a skirt.

Now this is where the fun starts!  I added a collar bone with my Signo pen and started dressing her up.  For her skirt, I used fuchsia lace trim from Hobby Lobby and white lace trim from my stash.  For the shawl, I just used a scrap a red fabric from my stash.

Her wings were cut from the Making Memories Sabrina collection and I used the Sizzix Angel Wings die.  I sewed around all of the edges then inked with Tim Holtz Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.

I added a cute little glittered heart to the back of the wings.

To finish her off, I just gave her a heart, rose and angel to hold.

I'm just thrilled with the way this project turned out and I hope you like it too!  Thank you so much for joining me today & I'd like to send out a warm welcome to my newest bloggie friends Tara and Anita!!  Ladies, thanks so much for following along!!!!

Have a BEAUTIFUL Monday!!

Dylusions Art Journal

I finished my very first art journal page in my NEW Dylusions art journal from my PWP January Mixed Media Kit!!

Isn't this fun?!  I just let loose with gesso, paints, inks, Dylusion spray inks and doodling.

In fact I went to town with my doodling and even journaled about it, lol.  I'm definitely on a doodling kick these days, it makes me happy!!

I added some of the Cosmo Cricket chipboard flowers and border stickers from the kit.

I'm really enjoying playing with this kit and can't wait to see what Carrie puts together in the February Mixed Media kit.  If you'd like to purchase the January kit, you can find it HERE but hurry because they're almost sold out!

Have a FABULOUS weekend & THANKS so much for stopping by today!!!!

HUGZ :D

Tag - PWP Mixed Media Kit

Hello, Hello!  Last night I played with my PWP Jan Mixed Media Kit so I'd like to share the tag I created:

I used the craft tag that came with the kit and both of the stencils from the kit to create the background.  I really wish I would have taken a pic before I began layering on top of it.  I used Distress inks, gesso and Dylusions.

Next I added some of the Cosmo Cricket Art Angel border stickers and doodled around them with the black Signo pen that came in the kit and my white Signo.  I stamped the butterfly wings and embossed with Donna Salazar's Mix'd Media Truffle inx.  Both the stamp and the embossing powder are included in the kit.  Even the cardstock I used is from the kit :D.  I colored in the wings with my Tim Holtz Distress Markers and rolled some book text for the body.

The cute image of the two little girls is from the Cosmo Cricket Art Angels Element Deck, also included in the kit.  I colored the little girls in with Distress Markers, Prismacolor pencils and my white Signo pen.

Finally I added another set of wings to the little girl and some ribbon and scrap fabric.

I'm planning on using this tag in an art journal page that I'm working on.  If you're interested in the PWP Jan Mixed Media Kit  you still have a chance to pick one up for yourself but don't wait too long!  There are only four kits left so get yours before they're all gone!!

Thank you so much for stopping by today and for all of your sweet comments and birthday wishes for my grandson!!!

HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY!!!

Make a Wish!

Happy Wednesday!  I hope your week is going smooth so far, ours has been great.  We celebrated my grandson's 2nd birthday on Monday so I spent yesterday with him enjoying his new toys.  I got some really great pictures too and wanted to scrapbook.  So I pulled out my little portable HP photo printer (my big one broke) and started printing some pics.  It's been so long since I scrapbooked that I didn't know where to start, lol.  Then I realized that I should just do what I do on all my other projects, doodle, stencil, fussy cut and mist!

The background paper is BoBunny and I doodled around all the edges.  Next I pulled out the Donna Downey stencil that came in my PWP January Mixed Media kit, some gesso and randomly stenciled. I have to tell you, I've used a lot of stencils and this has to be one of the best ones I've used.  It was thicker and stayed to really good as I was stenciling.

I cut some scraps of yellow and red papers, ran them through my sewing machine and inked the edges.  I matted my photos with paper from the My Mind's Eye Party Time Paper Pack and of course I had to add a little cardboard.  I used a lot of stickers off of the Deja Views Birthday pack.

I used Mickey and Friends to cut the number two.  To finished things off I did some journaling.  It felt really good to do some scrapbooking.  I definately need to start scrapping our special moments again.  Thanks so much for stopping by, HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY!!

Believe - Art Journal

Good Monday Morning to you all!  This morning I'm sharing an art journal page that I finished up last night:

Sorry the isn't that great, I'm in a bit of a rush this morning because it's my grandson's birthday so there is still lots to do in preparation for this evening's festivities ;D

This is a background I did at my Donna Downey workshop a few months ago.  I adhered a paper towel to my page for texture then stamped a Donna Downey flower onto tissue paper, fussy cut and applied to the page.

So last night I added the second flower, the butterfly, Donna Downey Unity stamp, did some doodling and added some scraps of paper here and there.

For the inclusion, I painted it to match my page and added this cute little Cosmo Cricket Angel that was in my PWP Jan Mixed Media Kit.  She was actually on a tag but I fussy cut so it would show more of the background.

I added another tissue flower, some more doodling and the rest of the Donna Downey Unity quote.  This came together very fast since my background was already done.  I think I'm enter this in the Simon Say's Challenge for this week.  They want to know what you're best known for so it's anything goes.  That's kinda a hard question though, I think I'm best known for lots of layers, bright colors, lots of texture and details.  I don't know, what do you think?

Alright I better go because I have a lot to do for the birthday boy.  Thank's for joining me and have a beautiful day!!

Happy Friday!!

Hi everyone, I hope your weekend is off to a great start.  I'm just popping in to say hello and to WELCOME my newest bloggie friends: Jane Schoof, Sandra & Dawn!!  Ladies THANKS so much for stopping by and deciding to follow along!!

Well before I let you go I thought I'd share some of my "work in progress" art journal pages:

These are images from a Tim Holtz stamp set that I really liked but they were way to small for my ginormous art journal so I drew them out.  I've been adding color here and there when I've got some extra paint that I want to use up.

I started this one to practice writing the quote I was gonna use on the Frida canvas I did for PWP.

I began this one when I was trying to start recording videos but my camera wasn't on, lol.  So I ended up starting this one instead and just never finished this one.  That's it for today friends, now I'm off to enjoy the extended weekend!!

Thanks for joining me today & Have a Wonderful Weekend!!!

Hello My Love - Card

Hey there friends!  I've got a new card to share with you today.  I completed this one last night and planned to share it early this morning but omgosh.....I woke up feeling like death.  Thankfully my DH stayed home to help with my grandson and I'm starting to feel better now.  (Thanks honey, love you)

Okay now onto my card ;D

I actually made this card to enter into the Simon Says Black, White and another color challenge but I missed the deadline (hate when that happens).  I chose to use black, white and red.  Boy this was harder to do than I thought it would be.  I guess because I love playing with the whole box of crayons and love loads of contrast.
For this card I started by cutting Card #2, Layers from the Sentimentals Cricut Cartridge from white cardstock.  Next I cut black cardstock for my base and stamped it with a Metallic Pearl Dabber.  I believe the stamp I used is Inkadinkado.  I stamped the white cardstock with two shaded of red Colorbox ink and a Recollections stamp.  Then I inked it with Tim Holtz distress inks in Fired Brick and Festive Berries.  I also ran it through the sewing machine to add an extra little detail.  I added some glitter embossed swirls for a little framing and doodled around the edges.  I finished this off with some inked ribbon, a charm, sticker letters and a heart cut with Cricut Accent Essentials.  I also ran it through the swiss dots embossing folder.

Thank you so much for stopping by today and WELCOME to my newest bloggie friend Mallrat!!
HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY!!

Art Journal - Dancing Stars

Happy Wednesday y'all!  I'm to have a new art journal page to share with you today.

This page is in my Donna Downey inspiration journal and is a background that I completed in her mixed media workshop last year.  I really love the colors on this page.

This is a close up of the "inclusion".  The sentiment is a PWP stamp and the scripted chicken wire is Christy Tomlinson by Unity.

I don't know who the girl stamp is by (sorry), it was in the classroom of my local stamping store, Stamp Antonio but I really liked it.  She's perfect for my page don'tcha think?!  I'm gonna get a better photo tomorrow (already updated photos).  This one didn't come out very good since it's already dark.  Well friends, I think that's it for now!  I hope you're having a FABULOUS week!!!

I entered this project in the Sunday Fun Day #5 - Anything Goes Linky Party

Doing a Happy Dance!!

I'm so excited right now because I've been anxiously awaiting with the new Paper Wings Productions January Mixed Media Kit and it came today!!!

These Cosmo Cricket Art Angels are ah-dorable and oh my!  I'm so impressed with the Dylusions journal.  It's larger than I thought it would be and it's so sturdy.  The cover size is 11 13/16" x 9" and the pages are 11 3/8" x 8 1/4".  All of the items in this kit are superb.  Carrie over at Paper Wings did a fabulous job putting this together.  I HIGHLY recommend getting this one!  Well friends the baby is napping so I'm gonna try and doing a little playing with my new kit ;D

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!

Oh and Thank You all so much for all of your sweet comments on my Mixed Media post yesterday, "Always Remember" .  I have to be honest, I was a little nervous about sharing that canvas because it was so personal.  So reading all of your kind words really meant a lot to me, thank you :D

Work in Progress

Happy Friday Everyone!  Well I finally started a new project late last night after we got home from my son's music lessons.  I didn't get done but I think I'm off to a go start so far.

Photo: Here's a nice one for all the Ramirez out there ;D
For this project I dug into my mom's old photos and found a beautiful photo of her to use on my project:

Unfortunately I tried a new transfer technique and my image didn't transfer completely.  I missed a step along the way but I'm pretty sure I can still work with this ;D

Hey by any chance, do you happen to know who is has a challenge using: pink, turquoise and white/cream?  I know I came across one over the weekend but I can't remember who had it and I'd like to join in.  Holler at me if you know!

Thanks for stopping by & have a wonderful weekend!  I'll be back on Monday with a Mixed Media project over at the Aviary!!

Adios!!

Stopping in to say Hello!

Hi Friends, I'm just stopping in to say hello today.  I really haven't had a chance to work on anything new.  I'm still trying to adjust to being back to a regular schedule as well as adjusting to new after school activities.  My son will be moving up to Boy Scouts this year so we're starting a new schedule for that and he also started new music lessons.  So needless to say, it's been a very busy week and just when I thought I was gonna start working on a project, the power went out.   We had very severe thunderstorms last night and spent most of the evening without power.   Lucky it was a lot warmer than the last few days so it wasn't too bad.  Anyway, I thought I'd share a pic of my "creative mess", lol.

Looks like first order of business will be cleaning up!  I don't like starting a new project with a mess on my desk.  The only time I do it is if I'm running with a tight schedule and have a deadline creeping up on me.  It's really not too bad I guess, this shouldn't take me too long to straighten up.

I hope you're enjoying a WONDERFUL Wednesday and hopefully I'll be back with a new project tomorrow.  That's if these boys of mine don't drive me crazy first, lol!

HAVE A GREAT ONE!!!!
