Happy Friday!

Hello, hello!  I hope you all have had a wonderful week!!  We've been busy with end of year school activities and are counting the days, lol.  How bout you, what have you been up to?

I have found a little time to get crafty ;D cause you know it's what keeps me sane, lol.  So today is my turn to post for Paper Wings and I'm sharing how I altered this scrap piece of wood that was on my desk.

I also knocked out an art journal page and sharing some tips on getting it done quickly.  If you'd like to see these projects, please visit:  The Aviary.

Thank you all so much for visiting me and for all the kind words you leave me.  Have a wonderful holiday weekend!!!

Whimsical Shadow Box - PWP May Nesting Components

I got a chance to play with my new Paper Wings Productions May Nesting Components kit over the weekend so I'd like to show you what I came up with.

This is a really fun shadow box and I can definitely see a little story in the composition.  I think that interpretation is one of the great things about art so I won't tell what I see so you can come up with your own story.

This sweet little lady and the little bird on a branch are both from the clip art sheet included in the set.  I fussy cut both and embellished the girl's hair with a tiny rose (also from the kit).

This beautiful lady is from the clip art sheet too.  She looks a little mischievousness don't you think, lol.  Maybe she's that whisper you hear reminding you to "be yourself".  I sprinkled some of the Pink Paislee paper goods, journaling cards and press ons here and there.

Here is a closer look at the relationship between these two.  What do you think is going on?

To frame my focal image, I used this Blue Fern Chippie called Royal Bird Frame.  I covered the chippie with the Chisty Tomlinson Text Coffee Filter sheets that are in the kit.  This was quite a bit of work because of all of the intricate detail on the Blue Fern chippie but I think it was totally worth it.  I inked all of the edges with an acrylic dauber to help it pop against the background.

I created this little cluster of kit flowers to accent the shadow box.

To finish off the box, I used the Paper Wings "Thankful" stamp and added some of the Pink Paislee paper goods around the frame to create balance.  Finally I adhered the white seam binding ribbon around the entire box to create the hanger.

May 2013 Mixed Media Kit
This is a really fun kit full of whimsy and you get so much product.  I still have a ton left so I'll be back on the PWP blog on Friday with another project featuring this kit.  If you'd like to get one of these babies for yourself, visit the Paper Wings Productions online store.

Thanks for joining me, have a beautiful and inspiring day!!

P.S. Don't forget to tell what you think is going on in this little scene ;D

I've entered this project is the DL.Art May Linky Party - Anything Goes!

May PWP Nesting Components Kit & SoFlo Market Pics

Hello, Hello!  I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day.  Today I wanted to pop in and share the new Paper Wings Productions Nesting Components Kit and some pics from the SoFlo Market on Saturday.

Here's the link to Dana's project using the Nesting Components kit and here is the link to the PWP Online store if you'd like to purchase a kit.

The SoFlo Market was great and I met so many wonderful people and young girls who share my love of art.  It's so nice to meet these little girls and their parents who encourage their love of art.  Can you just imagine what beautiful works of art they'll be creating when they get my age.  I hope they keep on drawing and painting!!

My "Blessings" canvas found a new home.  There was a lady that I met last month who really loved it so her daughter and daughter-in-law came by to picked it up for Mother's Day.  I remember visiting with her for awhile last month, she was such a sweet lady.  I hope she enjoys her painting.

This awesome chest is a new addition that my DH picked up for me a week before the show.  The shelf on the top is the insert of the chest.  He's so good to me!!  The Royal typewriter and phone are other garage sale finds that he's found me.

I wanted to change my set up so he built me this wall out of a pallet.  I just love the way it all turned out.  We had a great response to our booth set up.

I also had a lot of people tell me that my heart ladies looked like me, lol.  What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by!!

Love Birds

Hello, Hello!  Did you all have a good weekend?  Mine seems like it just flew by.  I did get a chance to complete a couple of projects and I have a couple of others started.  So today, I've got a new altered project to share with you!!

This is a 10x6 wooden plaque and I'm calling this one "Love Birds".

I picked up this plaque at Ross for $.49, not bad huh.

I pulled the bird off, applied gesso, then adhered scraps of fabric and patterned papers.  Then I applied another layer of gesso and stenciled with some Dylusions.

Next came some red paint, molding paste and a Prima stencil.

I let it sit for about 24hrs to make sure the molding paste was dry.  Then I accented with some light blue paint and a white pen.

I found this sentiment in my scrap bin.  I stamped it on some canvas but never used it.  I also did some other stamping here and there for interest.

I added swirls with my 3-D Enamels.  I really love this stuff the only down side is the drying time so when I use it I normally set it aside and start a new project.  I also used some Tim Holtz crackle paste for some added texture.

You know its funny because I use to really have trouble working with purple but I noticed that I seem to be reaching for it more and more.  Well that's it my sweet bloggie friends!!

Thanks so much for stopping by & have a beautiful day!!!

Art Journal - Dancing Stars

Happy Wednesday y'all!  I'm to have a new art journal page to share with you today.

This page is in my Donna Downey inspiration journal and is a background that I completed in her mixed media workshop last year.  I really love the colors on this page.

This is a close up of the "inclusion".  The sentiment is a PWP stamp and the scripted chicken wire is Christy Tomlinson by Unity.

I don't know who the girl stamp is by (sorry), it was in the classroom of my local stamping store, Stamp Antonio but I really liked it.  She's perfect for my page don'tcha think?!  I'm gonna get a better photo tomorrow (already updated photos).  This one didn't come out very good since it's already dark.  Well friends, I think that's it for now!  I hope you're having a FABULOUS week!!!

I entered this project in the Sunday Fun Day #5 - Anything Goes Linky Party
