Popping in to say Hello

Hi friends, it's been awhile since I've posted so I thought I'd pop in to say hello and let you know what's been going on in my little world.  Things have been really wacky over here, you might remember that my DH and I went on vacation for our anniversary last week.  Well, we came back Saturday evening and that night my grandson got really sick while he was visiting his other grandparents and ended up in the ER.  The good news is that it was nothing serious just a stomach virus.  So Sunday I spent the day catching up on my cleaning.  On Monday everything was going fine until the evening, that's when my older son and I both caught the stomach virus.  So I spent that night and the next day completely miserable.  I think my immune system must have been down a bit from traveling because it hit me really hard.  In fact I'm just now starting to feel better but my appetite is still very low (that's a good thing if you ask me, hehe).  Last night my youngest decided to join in on the fun so now everyone in the house has had it except my DH.  I guess he's right about all those vitamins he takes everyday, lol.   

I don't have any new projects to share so instead I'll show you the pics I took in Vegas.  Believe it or not, these are the only pics I took with my camera:

I don't think I'll be back to blogging again until next week because I'll need to catch up with work first.  I hope you all are having a wonderful week and I'll be back as soon as I can!!

I'm back!

Hey Friends, I'm back from our mini vacation and ready to catch up on my blog reading :D  We spent a couple of days in Kemah and couple in Houston but I think we could have used a couple more days to really see everything.  Unfortunately, my DH had to get back to work but I'm grateful for the time we got with him ;D 

Here are a few of my favorite pics from our trip:

This magnificent White Bengal Tiger is on display at the Houston Downtown Aquarium.  They have four of these beauties.

I thought this guy was pretty awesome.  He lives at the Houston Zoo.

My DH being silly as always :D  This was a traveling exhibit at the Houston Zoo of animatronic dinosaurs.

We were so impressed with the new Hall of Palaeontology at the Houston Museum of Natural Science.  I've got a ton of pics of their amazing collection of dinosaurs.  My son had a blast taking pictures too.

This Buddha is part of the Terra Cotta Warriors traveling exhibit currently on display at the Houston Museum of Natural Science.  I think it'll be there through September.

This is the Kemah boardwalk, we had a great time riding all of the rides!

This photo is from the Johnson Space Center.  We had a wonderful day learning about space :D

Never Forgotten - Memorial Day

Between all the bar-b-ques, swimming and family fun, let's not forget to honor our fallen heros.

We walked among the crosses

Where our fallen soldiers lay.

And listened to the bugle

As TAPS began to play.

The Chaplin led a prayer

We stood with heads bowed low.

And I thought of fallen comrades

I had known so long ago.

They came from every city

Across this fertile land.

That we might live in freedom.

They lie here 'neath the sand.

I felt a little guilty

My sacrifice was small.

I only lost a little time

But these men lost their all.

Now the services are over

For this Memorial Day.

To the names upon these crosses

Japanese Tea Gardens

The weekend went by so fast didn't it!?  My DH and son had to work again this weekend so we really didn't get to do to much so today I thought I share a few pics from another one of San Antonio's treasures.  This is the Japanese Tea Gardens, I only snapped a few pics here so there is so much more to them.  It's one of photographers favorite spots for portraits.



Even though I was home, I didn't get in the studio to create.  Instead I caught up on my blog reading and did a couple of hops and saw a lot of really great projects.  Well, gotta go!  It's my DH's first day off & in town for awhile so we're gonna enjoy some family time.  Have a beautiful day & thanks so much for stopping by today :D

VIVA FIESTA!!!

FIESTA officially kicked of this week & the whole city is in PARTY mode for the next two weeks!  So I thought I'd share some pics from one of our favorite FIESTA events.  These pics are from The Taste of New Orleans, the have jazz music, drinks, games and of course CAJUN food!

We love going down for the music and FOOD.  Gotta get some gator on a stick every year ;D

Finally Catching a Break!

I'm so happy to finally be catching a break from all the work we've had over the last couple of weeks.  Things are still super busy for my husband out in the field but all my back office stuff is calming down for a bit.  So I'm sitting here trying to decide if I wanna organize my art supplies, paint or just catch up on reading all of your blogs.  I feel like I'm so behind on all the fun stuff, lol.  Well, I think I might just relax and watch the last Atlanta Housewives episode to recharge the old batteries.  Yup, doing nothing sounds really good right now :D  I'll be back in full force real soon ;D.  TTYL!!

BEAUTIFUL Guadalupe State Park

Well, I haven't had a chance to finish any new projects this week because my DH has been out of town all week.  I really thought I'd have A LOT of time to play in my studio while he was gone, but NOPE that wasn't the case AT ALL.  This was the first time he had to go out of town and my youngest didn't take it very well.  He was really missing Daddy so I spent most of my time entertaining him.  Luckily Daddy comes home today so J was super excited this morning, he just can't wait to see his Daddy this afternoon.

 

I've started going through all my pics and started pulling out all of my Disney layouts for next week, (yay!).  While I was going through my photos, I found some beautiful pics of Guadalupe State Park that I'd like to share with you today.  This park is about 20 mins from our home and it is so beautiful.  These photos were taken during the fall on one of our Cub Scout camping trips (that I still need to scrap by the way, lol).

Photography - The Alamo

Today I thought I'd share some of my favorite picks of the Alamo.  From time to time my husband and I like to head downtown with all our sons and enjoy a bit of site seeing around our beautiful city.  These are some photos from one of those trips.

Dinosaur Sculptures

It's Spring Break here in Texas so I'm enjoying sleeping in a little bit longer.  I've taken a little break from painting and scrapping to recharge the old batteries but, I'm hoping to get back to it today.  Unfortunately, the IRS business tax filing deadline is breathing down my throat so my hubby's business needs will have to come first before I get to have any fun. :o(

In the mean time, I'd like to share some photos with you.  I really love taking pics of architecture, landscapes and anything interesting; so I'm adding a new page to my blog called Photography.  I'll be sharing photos that I've taken over the years as well as some new ones.  Today, I'm sharing a few photos I took in 2007 of really cool Dinosaur sculptures.  These dinosaurs are on display outside of the Grand Prairie Ripley's Believe It or Not.  The artist used chrome bumpers to create these stunning pieces of art.
