When I staring thinking about our "Retro" theme, I immediately thought of the "70"s when everything was chill. I knew I wanted to use the Marley quote in the Bird Melange stamp set but I really had no idea what I was gonna do. So I pulled out a canvas and just started working.
To create this background, I used a 6x6 Crafter's Workshop Tie Dyed stencil with molding paste and then sprayed a mixture of red, pink and purple Dylusions Inks. Next I randomly stamped the screen & circle stamps from the Art Textures set and the Circles stamps. After that I decided to stamp the sunrise from the Earth & Sky set along the bottom and top of the canvas to create a border. When I was cleaning off my stamp, I totally had an "Ah-Ha" moment and with that thought my canvas came to life!!
I'm so proud to introduce you to Lucy!! Can you guess what I discovered?! :D The sunrises make perfect eyelids & eyelashes don't you think?! So I stamped them and started creating Lucy around them. The rest of her is hand drawn and painted with acrylic paints. I also stamped the earth from the Earth & Sky set on her neck for a nice subtle touch.
To give her more of a hippie feel, I added some beaded ribbons, a feather, flowers and a bird stamp to her hair.
Here is a closer look a the quote that inspired my design. You can find it on the Bird Melange.
I used a mixture of Prima and Recollections flowers along with beads from my stash.
I named her after the Beatles' Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.
Lucy is chillin, meditating to Three Little Birds....
Well, my bloggie peeps that it for me! I hope you've enjoyed my take on this theme!! Now it's time to send you off to your next stop. So please head on over to Tara's Blog Next!!
