More Day of the Dead Fiesta Fun

Hello, Hello my sweet bloggie friends!!  I hope you all had a great Monday!  I had a super quick post yesterday because I had to get to my son's school.  This week is jam packed with both school and extra curricular activities plus looming DT deadlines but you know I have to be honest.   I love the stress of being under pressure and I think I do some of my best work when I'm under the gun.  I can get a little crazy but it's it's all good, lol.  Anyway, I'm still trying to get ready for my next SoFlo Market so I'm still making some Dia De Los Muertos projects and this is my latest tag:

I really like how colorful this turned out.  It feels cheerful to me, like a celebration of life, love and happiness.

This lively couple is a Paper Wings Productions stamp.

Here's a closer look at the background and colorful accents.  The next market is on May 11th and whatever doesn't sell will be going on Etsy.

Thanks so much for all your sweet comments on my last paper mache heart "Stronger".  I'm so glad you guys liked her and her bold color.  Thanks so much for stopping by and have a beautiful day!

Adios :D

Dia De Los Muertos Treat Boxes

It's Fiesta time here in San Antonio and bright colors can be seen EVERYWHERE along with beautiful Dia De Los Muertos creations.  With so much inspiration around, I had to pull out some skeleton treat boxes!

This is freehand mixed with some beautiful Paper Wings Productions stamps.

The cute little flowers on the sides are from the beautiful Paper Wings Productions Frida Por Vida Stamp set.  I also used a set of wings from the Mini Wings Stamp set.

This one kinda reminds me of a Mexican wrestler's masks, lol.

The ribbon runs around the whole skull and a metal button finishes it off on top.  I'll be taking these guys with me to the next SoFlo Market!

Thanks so much for stopping by, I truly appreciate all of your kind words!!

Have a Beautiful Day!!

Fiesta flowers

Did you guys get a chance to check out my altered train case yesterday?  Here's the link in case you missed it: Mixed Media Monday.  Today I'm featuring the same PWP Mixed Media kit but I'm only using the stamp set which can also be purchased separately HERE.

This is an 8x8 canvas called "Fiesta Flowers".  Here in San Antonio we just kicked off our two week long Fiesta celebration and bright beautiful colors like these can be seen through out our lovely city.  If you'd like to find out more, visit http://www.fiesta-sa.org/ for all the details.

I was inspired by these beautiful stain glass windows in the Royal Melange stamp set.  They reminded me of flowers and so these beautiful blossomed right before my eyes.

I started out with my favorite light blue soft body acrylic then stamped the medallions onto the canvas and drew the flowers around them.

The flowers are colored in with a mixture of acrylic and gouache paints.  Then I stamped the medallions again on the cardstock included in the April Mixed Media kit, fussy cut and embellished with paint and a white gel pen.

I randomly stamp some of the other stamps in the set and doodled around the edges.

Did you all notice anything different on this painting?!..................No words!!  At the SoFlo Market, one of the other artisans suggested that I do some paintings with no words to reach a larger market so I thought it was worth a try.  So what do you think?!  Do you like sentiments on my work, prefer them without or are indifferent?  I'd love to hear from you so please share your thoughts.

I've entered this project is the Simon Says Stamp and Show - Color Challenge

Thanks for stopping by and have a beautiful, inspired & colorful day!!!

VIVA FIESTA!!

Altered Train Case - PWP

Welcome to a fresh new week!  I hope you all had a really wonderful weekend!!  Mine is okay, my DH  and son had to work both days so it was just me and the kiddos.  Luckily they didn't work too late on Saturday so DH took me and our youngest to the movies.    We watched Oblivion with Tom Cruise, it was alright.  You could wait for dvd, just my opinion.  Anyway, I got some new paper mache hearts in so I'll be adding more of those soon.

Today I'm sharing an altered train case on the PWP blog.  If you follow me on FB, this is the blue vintage case I showed you a couple of weeks ago.  I finally had some time to work on it and I think it turned out pretty cool.  So go check it out!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!  Have a beautiful inspired day!!!

Victorian Wall Decor - Zeus and Zoe

Happy Friday everyone, I hope you've had a fabulous week!!  Today I have a sweet Victorian wall hanger to share with you that I put together using my gorgeous Zeus and Zoe kit.

The inspiration for this piece came from this beautiful calender image included in my kit.   Aren't these two just the cutest!!

To keep with the Victorian feel that I was going for, I chose to use an oval frame.  I turned it backwards to create a shadowbox and simply cut the image to fit inside

For a nice finished look I added trim around the edge of the frame.  The sequenced trim I used from my kit was a gorgeous blue but it didn't work with my design so I applied a layer of gesso, then painted over it with fluid acrylic.

To create a base for all of the layers, I cut a frame using my Cricut Frame of Mind Cartridge.  The beautiful KaiserCraft papers in my kit were just perfect.  All I had to do was ink them up a little bit.

Once the frame was on, I was able to start having fun with all the layers.  I used beautiful lace, crotchet trim, ruffle trim, a crotchet doily, beads, buttons and ScrapFX chippies all from my Zeus and Zoe kit.  Marivic's kits really come jam packed with a huge variety of items for your creating pleasure.  She can even make you a custom kit based on your style.  All you have to do is contact her and let her know what you're looking for.

Here's a closer look at the distressing I did on the key chippie.  This is layers of embossing powders, crackle and acrylic paints.  I just kept layering until I was happy with the look.

For a splash of color and whimsy I added a large butterfly.  I also mixed in some K&Company pieces and some ribbon from my stash to complete my design.

To create the hanger, I used some beautiful May Arts ribbon.  I really love the mix of velvet and crotchet trim on their ribbons.  Zeus and Zoe carries a large variety of these gorgeous May Arts ribbon, go check them out.

Be sure to visit the Zeus and Zoe online store to pick up some of these gorgeous products for your next project.  Oh and don't forget, we still have a fun challenge going on right now!  Click HERE to find out all about it!!

Thank you for stopping by and for all of your sweet comments, enjoy your weekend!!

Listen Paper Mache Heart

Hello Everyone!!!!!!  I feel like I've been gone forever, lol!  I'm happy to have a chance to post again.  Last week I worked hard to get ready for the SoFlo Market and finished up my paper mache heart series.  I had a total of four:  Be TrueTrust and two more that I didn't get a chance to share with you.  Luckily I was able to photograph one of them to show you:

I'm loving the purples on this one.

This was the last heart that I completed the night before the show so I wasn't able to get a good pic of it.  These hearts were a big hit and I sold out of them fast (yay).  I really enjoyed creating these and I've had several people request one so I'm on the search for more.  If I can't find anymore, I'm just gonna make my own ;D

I've got a couple of projects in the works that I hope to share soon.  So keep an eye out for them!! Now I'm off to try and catch up on my blog reading.  Take care and THANKS so much for stopping by!!

What's Up!!

Hello Everyone!!  I'm just popping in today to fill you in on what's going on in my little world this week.  I haven't had a chance to do to much blogging since last week because we were out of town for my b-day.  Thanks so much for all of your birthday wishes!!  Now that I'm back I'm busy trying to get ready for this event:

This is a new venue for local artisan to sell their wares.  They invited me to apply as a vendor and my application was approved (yay).  I'm excited to be participating in this event.  It has been really advertised and I've already beginning to network with the local artist community.  So wish me luck!!!

I have two more paper mache hearts to go and I really want to get them done in time for the show. This is one that I started last night.  Hopefully I can get this one finished tonight so I can start the last one.  Time is flying by and I only get to work on projects after dinner.

Last week I also received these BEAUTIFUL Pinque Peacock products.  Aren't these gorgeous!!  Jessica really does a beautiful job.  So if you haven't visited her shop on FB, you need to!!  Here is the link: Pinque Peacock

Thank you all so much for all of your sweet comments on my last two projects!!  I'm so glad you liked "Lucy" and the layout I did for Zeus and Zoe.  I hope you'll join me in the ZZ April Challenge!  Well I better get going so I'll let you go.  Have a BEAUTIFUL day & Thanks for stopping by!!!

40, It's Just A Number - Zeus and Zoe April Challenge

Hello & Thanks so much for joining me today for an extra special layout!  Why is it extra special you ask, well because it's about me (heheheehe).  This month over at Zeus and Zoe, we're having a REALLY FUN challenge for you to play along with!!  We are challenging you to create a project with you front and center.  That's right, the theme is "Life As It Is Now" (for you).  So I hope you're up for the challenge because I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you better.  The only requirement you have is to mix some buttons into your design, easy peasy right!

Ah...but wait, there's more!!!!

To sweeten the deal, one lucky participant will be chosen by the design team and will win this fabulous prize pack sponsored by the Zeus and Zoe Esty Shop plus full bragging rights!!

Isn't that a sweet prize pack?!  (Sorry Macaroons not included, lol)  This generous kit includes:
a package of flowers, stick pins, buttons, ephemera items, a La Blanche Stamp, Washi tapes and a package of Magicals from Lindy Stamp Gang

AND

A random participant will also be chosen to win these beautiful ribbons from May Arts:

Okay so I know what your thinking, where is this extra special layout right?!  LOL, ready.........here it is!!

Tada!!  As you can tell, I'm having so much fun with this month's challenge (see you should join so you can have fun too, lol).  I rarely scrap about myself or even take pics of myself for that matter.  I always joke that my family is gonna look back and think I was never there.  That's the big problem with being the family paparazzo, right!  Well, for this layout I turned the camera over to my youngest son and had a mini photo shoot.  Luckily I found one that would work out of the gazillon he took, lol.

I knew I wanted my focus to be on turning 40 because I reached my milestone birthday yesterday.  So that's the inspiration for my title and I wanted the layout to reflect my very favorite design elements and colors.  So with that in mind, I began working on my design.

My background paper is called Cupids Arrow from Kaisercraft's Sweet Nothings Collection and I added texture with molding paste and a Crafters Workshop chicken wire stencil.  Next I added in my very favorite blue soft body acrylic and magenta gouache paints.

To create layers, I added painted chipboard, an ink stained/doodled/stamped banner and some roses fussy cut from the Manor House flower packaging.

When I saw the beautiful Banana Boat paper by The ScrapCake in my kit, I immediately thought the grouping of circles looked like clouds.  So I fussy cut them out and added a couple here and there.  I feel like my head is always lost in the clouds day dreaming so I wanted to add them to symbolize the dreamer in me.

I tucked in some hidden journaling for my family using the ScrapFX tags from my Zeus and Zoe kit.  I colored them with various Dylusions inks and doodled around the edges.

To bring my design to life, I mixed beautiful vibrant flowers by Manor House, Prima, Recollections and my stash.  Since part of the challenge is to incorporate buttons, I added some of the gorgeous buttons from my kit to the big beautiful Manor Hour flower and then tucked in here and there.

I mixed in a couple of crocheted dollies, beautiful charms and stick pins from Zeus and Zoe kit.  I also created flourishes and loops with some jute twine and added a Prima light bulb from the Junkyard Findings line.

Here's a closer look at some of the layering, stenciling and paint.

Well friends, I hope I've inspired you play along with us.  This really is a great opportunity to have a little fun and express yourself through the colors of your soul.  So I encourage you to turn the camera over to someone else, take some pics and start creating!!  If you'd like some of the gorgeous items I used from Zeus and Zoe, just visit the online store.   Marivic can also put together a custom kit just for you, all you have to do is let her know what you're looking for or what your creative style is and she'll work her magic.

To link up your project, visit Zeus and Zoe.  Thanks again for stopping by and Have a Beautiful Inspired Day!!
