I also knocked out an art journal page and sharing some tips on getting it done quickly.  If you'd like to see these projects, please visit:  The Aviary.

Whimsical Shadow Box - PWP May Nesting Components

I got a chance to play with my new Paper Wings Productions May Nesting Components kit over the weekend so I'd like to show you what I came up with.

This is a really fun shadow box and I can definitely see a little story in the composition.  I think that interpretation is one of the great things about art so I won't tell what I see so you can come up with your own story.

This sweet little lady and the little bird on a branch are both from the clip art sheet included in the set.  I fussy cut both and embellished the girl's hair with a tiny rose (also from the kit).

This beautiful lady is from the clip art sheet too.  She looks a little mischievousness don't you think, lol.  Maybe she's that whisper you hear reminding you to "be yourself".  I sprinkled some of the Pink Paislee paper goods, journaling cards and press ons here and there.

Here is a closer look at the relationship between these two.  What do you think is going on?

To frame my focal image, I used this Blue Fern Chippie called Royal Bird Frame.  I covered the chippie with the Chisty Tomlinson Text Coffee Filter sheets that are in the kit.  This was quite a bit of work because of all of the intricate detail on the Blue Fern chippie but I think it was totally worth it.  I inked all of the edges with an acrylic dauber to help it pop against the background.

I created this little cluster of kit flowers to accent the shadow box.

To finish off the box, I used the Paper Wings "Thankful" stamp and added some of the Pink Paislee paper goods around the frame to create balance.  Finally I adhered the white seam binding ribbon around the entire box to create the hanger.

May 2013 Mixed Media Kit
This is a really fun kit full of whimsy and you get so much product.  I still have a ton left so I'll be back on the PWP blog on Friday with another project featuring this kit.  If you'd like to get one of these babies for yourself, visit the Paper Wings Productions online store.

Thanks for joining me, have a beautiful and inspiring day!!

P.S. Don't forget to tell what you think is going on in this little scene ;D

I've entered this project is the DL.Art May Linky Party - Anything Goes!

Craftin Desert Diva's - Show Me Your Craft Space/Room Linky Party!

Did you know that Tara is hosting a fun "Show Me Your Craft Space/Room" linky party right now?!  I just LOVE looking at creative spaces so I really wanted to join in on all the fun.  I know I've shared my space with you before but you know challenge and linky rules, no back linking.  So I thought it would be fun to share a new video tour and some pics that I snapped yesterday.  First up is the video!

Hope I didn't make you dizzy, lol.

This is the view when you come up the stairs.

This is the view from the hallway to the other bedroom and bath.  My ottoman has storage too and as you tell, its full.  ;D

This is my favorite part of my space because it's where I display my latest creations.

I've got supplies in every nook and cranny!

Elfa Decor shelving from Container Store fills this wall.

This is where the magic happens, lol.

I think Ikea makes perfect pieces for creative spaces.  Love the glass doors!!

This is reserved for my DH but I have to be honest it gets covered with junk stuff most of the time.  Thanks for checking out my happy place!  If you haven't joined Tara's linky party yet, you really should!!  Hop on over and take a peek into our creative worlds: Show Me Your Craft Space/Room!!

Have a beautiful day!!

File Storage Box

Hello!!  It's my turn to share my 2nd project of the month for Zeus and Zoe.  This project features the wonderful products from this month's challenge sponsors: May Arts. and Couture Creations.

I really needed something pretty to put my sketch books and art journals in so I created this beautiful file storage box.

I started out with a nice sturdy boutique bag that I'd been saving forever.  It already had the beautiful purple chevrons on the inside.  All I had to do was cut it down to the height I needed using a box cutter and t-square.

To give the box some added strength, I adhered wooden album covers to the front and back of the bag.  The mini album and 7 Dots Studio paper both came in my Zeus and Zoe kit.

The beautiful ribbon I used to trim around the entire box is from May Arts.   I actually used the backside of the ribbon because the front was a little to bright for my design.  So keep that in mind when you're using your ribbons; you're not limited to just the front of the ribbon and you could even tint it to match your project.

I accented the front of my box with Couture Creations dies: Key To My Heart - embossed with CC Great Almazo 5x7 embossing folder, Magical Butterfly, Hanging Sign and Aladdins Key.

The Couture Creations hanging sign is the perfect spot to label the file box.

I added clusters of looped May Arts ribbon around the beautiful Manor Creations flower and the burlap flower I made.

Thanks for joining me today and don't forget to enter the Zeus and Zoe May Challenge for your chance to win prizes from May Arts and Couture Creations!

Have a Wonderful Day!!

Frida - Mini Paper Mache Heart

I'm back with another mini heart!!  I actually made this one last week but hadn't had a chance to share it with you.  I find myself always wanting to take a bit of a breather after a show.  I work really hard to get ready so I like to unwind just a little afterwards.  I did complete a new project for Zeus and Zoe so I'll be sharing that one with you on Saturday.  It's a storage project so make sure you come by and check it out!

Now onto my heart :D
The image of Frida is from the Paper Wings Productions Muertos Stamp Set and the sentiment is from the the Frida Por Vida set.  The little heart is also a PWP stamp and the flowers are hand drawn.

The sentiment is Frida's famous quote, "Feet, What Do I Need You For When I Have Wings to Fly".

The backside of this one is identical to the front.   Well friends, that's it for today.  Thanks so much for joining me & have a beautiful day!!

May PWP Nesting Components Kit & SoFlo Market Pics

Hello, Hello!  I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day.  Today I wanted to pop in and share the new Paper Wings Productions Nesting Components Kit and some pics from the SoFlo Market on Saturday.

Here's the link to Dana's project using the Nesting Components kit and here is the link to the PWP Online store if you'd like to purchase a kit.

The SoFlo Market was great and I met so many wonderful people and young girls who share my love of art.  It's so nice to meet these little girls and their parents who encourage their love of art.  Can you just imagine what beautiful works of art they'll be creating when they get my age.  I hope they keep on drawing and painting!!

My "Blessings" canvas found a new home.  There was a lady that I met last month who really loved it so her daughter and daughter-in-law came by to picked it up for Mother's Day.  I remember visiting with her for awhile last month, she was such a sweet lady.  I hope she enjoys her painting.

This awesome chest is a new addition that my DH picked up for me a week before the show.  The shelf on the top is the insert of the chest.  He's so good to me!!  The Royal typewriter and phone are other garage sale finds that he's found me.

I wanted to change my set up so he built me this wall out of a pallet.  I just love the way it all turned out.  We had a great response to our booth set up.

I also had a lot of people tell me that my heart ladies looked like me, lol.  What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by!!

Daisy - Paper Mache Heart

Happy Friday Everyone, we made it to the weekend!!  I hope you had a great week and are gonna have an even better weekend with your loved ones.  I'll be out at the SoFlo Market on Saturday so if you're in my area, come on down, I'd love to meet ya!

Now let me introduce you to my friend Daisy.  She is a fun loving girl that always looks on the bright side of life.  I'm not to sure about her choice in lipstick though, I may have to talk to her about that.  What do you think, do you like her lip color?

I really like her hairstyle, I need to wear my hair like that one of these days!

My favorite black Signo pen ran out on me when I was working on this one.  I had to use my Faber-Castell brush tip pen so I ended up with bolder outlines on my accent flowers.

I think this heart is so fun with its bright color palette.  Daisy makes me smile :D    Here she is hanging out with a couple of her girlfriends waiting to go to the market:

Well friends, thanks so much for joining me today!  Have a fantastic weekend!!!

Honey - Paper Mache Heart

Let the parade of ladies continue!  Meet Honey, isn't she sweet ;D

Honey started out with blonde hair but I decided to go with a golden background so I had to darkened her hair.

I used a combination of script and musical note stamps on the background.  Then added various flowers and winged hearts.

Here's a close up of Honey ;D

I tried to leave it bright but I just couldn't resist distressing the edges.  It's like an addiction, I HAVE to distress, lol.

I didn't get a chance to work on any more hearts yesterday but hopefully I'll be able to today.  Saturday will be here before you know it and there is still so much to do like figure out my set up.  I want to change it up a little bit from last time.  We'll see.....THANKS so much for stopping by, LATER!!

Artsy to the Bone - Mini Paper Mache Heart

Hey Everyone!  I thought I'd take a little break from my large paper mache hearts to share my first mini heart:

Isn't this awesome?!  I love this mini heart so much that I've decided to make this a reoccurring item in my Etsy shop.  I just love the bright colors and of course the sentiment, "artsy to the bone", lol.  This is a small paper mache heart measuring about 4" x 3".  I used the large Catrina stamp by Paper Wings Productions, the PWP Frida Por Vida stamp set for the flowers and the Muertos stamp set for the sentiment.

Here's a look at the backside of the heart.

I painted this heart with gouache and did my usual pen work around the edges.  I'm hoping to have some of these in my Etsy shop in the near future.  I completed two more of the large paper mache hearts yesterday so keep an eye for them.  Thanks so much for all your kind comments and words of encouragement.  They really mean a lot to me!  Thanks so much for visiting me today, have a wonderful day!!

Let it Be - Paper Mache Heart

I'm on a roll with these hearts!  This is the other one I finished on Sunday and I have to admit, I really love this one!

I love the blue with the pops of white and red.  I think she's just beautiful and I love her full wild hair too.

This one is so fun and summery to me, love, love, love it!

Here's my last three all together but this batch is not complete.  I have two more almost done and one more to go after that.  So hopefully I'll have six of these ladies to take to the market on Saturday.

Here's a look at my first four just for fun!
Which one is your favorite so far?  Do you think I should try to make more than one of any of them?  Let me know your thoughts, I'm all ears ;D

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my hearts!  Have a Beautiful Day!!
