Tiny Captain

Hello!!  Boy....today has been a crazy day!  I've been super busy with work (boo!).  I really wanted to have this post up early today but I just wasn't able to get to it; better late than never I guess!

Okay, so I have another layout of my Panda.  This photo is from when he was about 9mths.  His grandmother (Dad's side) has a thing for sailors so she dressed up all the grand kids in sailor outfits and had their pictures taken.

I created the background of this layout with acrylic paints and various stamps then used my Cricut to cut out my title.

Okay that's it for today, sorry for being so short but I actually have more work to do (double boo).  Hopefully I'll get a chance to get my next post ready ahead of time.  As always, thanks so much for stopping by!!

Take Care :D

I'm back!

Hey Friends, I'm back from our mini vacation and ready to catch up on my blog reading :D  We spent a couple of days in Kemah and couple in Houston but I think we could have used a couple more days to really see everything.  Unfortunately, my DH had to get back to work but I'm grateful for the time we got with him ;D

Here are a few of my favorite pics from our trip:
This magnificent White Bengal Tiger is on display at the Houston Downtown Aquarium.  They have four of these beauties.

I thought this guy was pretty awesome.  He lives at the Houston Zoo.

My DH being silly as always :D  This was a traveling exhibit at the Houston Zoo of animatronic dinosaurs.

We were so impressed with the new Hall of Palaeontology at the Houston Museum of Natural Science.  I've got a ton of pics of their amazing collection of dinosaurs.  My son had a blast taking pictures too.

This Buddha is part of the Terra Cotta Warriors traveling exhibit currently on display at the Houston Museum of Natural Science.  I think it'll be there through September.

This is the Kemah boardwalk, we had a great time riding all of the rides!

This photo is from the Johnson Space Center.  We had a wonderful day learning about space :D

Well that's it for now, I have a lot of catching up to do and loads of laundry waiting for me so I better get to it!  Take care friends and enjoy your weekend!!

Thank You Card

Hello Hello Friends, Can I get a TGIF, Woot, Woot!!  :D  I don't know bout you but I am so glad it's Friday and I'm pretty excited because my DH is taking some time off to spend with us.  He works so hard and is way overdue for some R&R.

Okay, now for a little scrapbooking!!
Today I have a super cute Thank You card to share with you.  I made this one last weekend and have been waiting to share because I wanted the recipient to get if first.  So hopefully they have already recieved it and I'm not ruining the surprise ;D

I used kraft paper for the base of this card and stamped it up with some TH stamps.  The blue tag is BoBunny and was cut with my Cricut.  I used Sentimentals which is a really great cart but I'm kinda bummed that I can't cut all of the beautiful images in the booklet.  Oh...the pink scalloped circle was cut with the same cart.  The white scalloped circle is a Colorbok die cut and the pearl buttons are from my stash.  The cute little embossed owl is by Inkadinkado and that beautiful crochet lace is by Recollections.  Well I think that's everything, I'm really hoping that the recipient LOVES it :D

Alright, before I head out, I want to WELCOME Maria!!
Thank you so much for joining us here at Little Honey Bee Studios, I'm so grateful to have you here with us.

Have a Wonderful Weekend and if you ever wanna reach with any questions or just to say hello you can email me at artist.normagomez@yahoo.com or contact me through my FB page :D

Little Honey Bee's Sweet Treats

Hey Friends, I hope you all are having a fabulous week!!  It's been super busy around here and I haven't been home much.  So hopefully I'll get a catch up on my blog reading over the weekend.  I'm really missing seeing all of your amazing projects.  I have been reading all of your wonderful comments and am really grateful that you took the time to leave me some kind words :D

Today, I have a 12x12 Mixed Media canvas to share with you.  I actually completed this one over the weekend and have been dying to share it with you.  For this canvas I wanted to do something a little different so I thought "how bout a big cupcake" :D  I'm calling this one "Sweet Treats"

To start out, I applied a mixture of blue soft body acrylic with Liquitex Glass Beads Medium.
Once the Glass Bead medium cured, it gave me some really nice texture.  Next I layered in green soft body acrylic, using a baby wipe to blend the two colors together.

I thought about painting in the cupcake but in the end I decided to use my Cricut instead.  I found this super cute cupcake on the Doodlecharms cart and cut it at 8'.

Before attaching the cupcake, I built up my background using several Tim Holtz stamps.

I added dimension to the cupcake top with 3-D Enamels then I used soft oil pastels to color it in adding highlights and low lights.  The cupcake cup is covered in pretty pink tissue paper and to finish it off, I added various buttons, lace, ribbons and a little key from my stash.

Here's a closer look at the cupcake :D

Since I wrote in "Little Honey Bee's Sweet Treats", I thought it needed to have a couple little bees buzzing through!

Here's a close up of the glass beads, it's kinda hard to see but they shimmer beautifully.

Before I head out, I'd like to WELCOME our newest friend Simplycrafty!!  THANK YOU so much for joining us here at Little Honey Bee Studios, I'm so happy to have you following along :D
Well friends, I've gotta run....SEE YA!!!

Happy 26th Birthday!!

Today is the day we've been counting down to all week!
It's our oldest son's 26th birthday (man that makes me feel old, lol)  So today's layout is all about a very special day in his life, the day he became a Daddy:

A few months ago we welcomed our beautiful grand daughter into the family.  We were all so excited because she is the very first girl in the family!!

So this is my very first layout of her :D.  I started out with plain cream cardstock and used my fabulous PWP Background writing stamp with some gesso.  Next I created the flouishes with TH masks and Tattered Angels Mist.  The beautiful patterned papers are MME Lost & Found.  I also layered in a large doilie to add texture and depth to my layout.  The bling is from Prima and the flowers are a combination of Spellbinders & TH Tattered Florals.  The chipboard accents are from Michaels.  Well, I think that's all for now!

Have a wonderful day & thanks for stopping by!!

New Puppy

Today I've got a layout of my oldest and his dog Chico.  When he was about 21, he started living on his own and my DH was worried about him being all by himself so he surprised him with a new puppy.

My journaling is all about how Chico came into the family.  He was my son's faithful companion until a few months ago.  Chico passed away suddenly and my son was devastated.  So now this page serves in loving memory of my son's guardian.

Thank you for watching over our son.

Little Cowboy

Hey everybody!  Did you all have a great weekend!?  My DH had to work on Saturday so I stayed home and got a couple of projects done but I won't be sharing those until later in the week.  Right now it's all about my oldest because we're counting down to his birthday :D
So on Saturday I shared a layout of him when he was born and now we're jumping to age 6.  We're from Texas so naturally we have some Cowboy pics, lol :D

He's pretty cute in his Cowboy hat & boots huh!

Thank you for coming by, have a beautiful day!!

Counting down to 26

Happy Saturday!!  Do you have big plans today?  I was planning to head out to Austin for the Archivers grand opening but my DH ended up having to work and I don't wanna drive that far solo dolo.  So I guess I'm just gonna stick close by.  I really need to clean my studio anyway, I made a HUGE mess over the last couple of days.  Sounds like great fun doesn't it, lol :D

Anyway, today I'm sharing a layout of my oldest son.  His 26th birthday is just around the corner so I think the next several days will be dedicated to him.  I don't have many layouts of him because he absolutely HATES taking photos so its very hard to get some of him but every now and then I sneak in a few ;D

Isn't he cute, lol.  His daughter looked just like him when she was born.  Yup he became a proud Papa this year (I really need to get on the ball and scrap those pics).  Well if you saw my birthday post then you're probably thinking there is no way she has a 26 yr old but you've probably already figured out that he's my stepson too.  I had the pleasure of meeting this young man right before his 11th birthday and consider him my own :D  So when I started scrapbooking all of the baby pictures, I searched for his first photo.  I wanted to make sure each one of our kids had their own baby layout in the album.

This is one of my earlier layouts so it's pretty simple.  I used my Cricut to cut out his name and his birthday is done with stickers on vellum, easy peasy.  Well, I'm gonna start cleaning up this mess so I'm gonna let you go, stay tuned for more "Derek" layouts this week :D

Thank you all for your well wishes and support as I begin my work with PWP.  Your support truly means the world to me and I'm very grateful.  I'd also like to welcome Shay, THANK YOU so much for joining us here at Honey Bee Studios.  Shay is part of the PWP team and designed some of the beautiful images they carry.  You can see which stamps she designed on her blog, so hop on over and check it out!

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY & ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!!!

I Am Fab - Mixed Media Canvas & NEWS!!

Hello friends, I've got a new canvas to share with you today plus some EXCITING news!!  Up first is the canvas I completed last night:

This is a 12x12 canvas and it's FAB, lol!  This beautiful lady is a stamp from the Melange Women set by Paper Wings Productions.  This is the same set I used to create "This Moment" , click HERE to pick up your own set of these gorgeous ladies ;D

For this canvas, I just wanted to have some fun!  I started with a wash of Liquitex Soft Body Acrylic in black.  Next I began layering scraps of patterned papers.  The colors and patterns screamed Parisian to me so I tried to go that way.  To build up the background, I used a TH flourish mask and some stamps.  I also added several Bobunny rubons.  See those sweet little pink roses, they were in some happy mail that Jessica from Jessica's Craft Shaque sent me a couple of months ago, THANKS JESS!!!

I fussy cut the butterflies/flowers and adhered them onto my canvas using Gel Matte Medium.  Now, remember that fabulous grab bag I got from Heather Lynn the other day!?  I used one of the die cuts to stamp the Melange Women for my focal point and outlined the tag with a white pen to help draw the eye in a bit.  The beautiful pearl beads and white lace are also from Heather, THANKS GIRL!!  That gorgeous lilac ribbon border is from Prima, I'm loving all the bling ;D

Okay....now on to my EXCITING NEWS!!!

I've been asked to be a regular guest over on the Paper Wings Productions Blog staring in August.  I'm extremely excited for the opportunity and can't wait to start sharing more of their beautiful stamps with you.  I've got some AWESOME projects in the works so be sure to go over and become a follower so you don't miss out on any of the beautiful projects that the PWP team has in store for you!!  To see more of their gorgeous products and get your own sets, visit the Paper Wings Productions online store!!

Sweet Harvest - Psalm 91:11

I was finally able to get some better pics of my latest canvas this morning, YAY!

I'm calling this 12x12 canvas "Sweet Harvest".  My inspiration for this piece came from a recent trip to Hobby Lobby.  The isles were full of the warm rich colors of fall and the sunflowers really stood out to me.

With fall in mind, I got to work.  First I doodled on some flourishes with 3D Gloss Enamels.  I wanted to add texture and dimension to my background.  If you use this product on your project, be sure to let it dry naturally.  I let this cure over night before continuing.

Next I began layering in my colors using Raw Umber and Yellow Oxide Golden Fluid Acrylics.  I also used TH masks with Red Liquitex spray paint.  I spread the red paint around with a baby wipe to blend it into by background.  I also used some ART-C mist to tone the color down a bit.

Remember those 3D doodles?  I ran my brayer over the canvas with some Raw Umber to help them pop.  I love the way they turned out :D

In keeping with the harvest feel, I used some burlap and stamped my sentiment on canvas.  I  wanted to tie the red in and give the canvas piece a finished look so I ran it through my sewing machine with some red thread.  It was looking a little stark to me so I toned it down with ART-C Mist.

The beautiful die cut sunflowers are from K&Company and those gorgeous roses are from Paper Studio.

Here's a closer look :D

The blue strip of patterned paper is from an ART-C kit.

I've been wanting to use that feather for awhile!

Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed today's post!!  Be sure to let me know what you think :D  I really LOVE reading comments!!!

Stay tuned for some EXCITING news coming SOON!!!!!

Mixed Media Sneak Peak!!

I finished up one of my 12x12 canvases but since its really late, I wasn't able to get any good pics of my project.  So I'm gonna have to wait til morning and try again, in the mean time, here is a little peak ;D

I'll be back later on today with some better photos.  The weather has been really bad but hopefully I'll get just enough sunshine for a few pics......STAY TUNED!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Card

I've got a cute little birthday card to share with you today.  This came together super fast thanks to my Cricut and I even got to put my scrap papers to use :D

I really wanted to use that beautiful hot pink background paper but my scrap was a little too small for the card so I mounted it on black cardstock.  The black really helps the hot pink pop, don't you think?!  Next I pulled out my Celebrations & Beyond Birthday carts to cut the sentiment and that adorable little cake.  Since my cake is pink too, I needed to give it nice backdrop to show it off.   After digging through the scrap bins awhile, I found the perfect shade of green to save the day :D     Now to finish this baby out!  A little accent dots on the sentiment, some glitter ;D, flowers, and another little scrap piece of the hot pink pp and wa la all done!!

That's it for now!!  Have a beautiful day and thank you so much for stopping by :D

P.S. I've started working on three new 12x12 canvases so hopefully I'll have some new mixed media to share soon!  I'll post little sneak peeks on FB ;D
