Monster Jam Pit Party

Happy Saturday!!  I've got a quick post for you today but first I wanna THANK everyone for your sweet comments on yesterday's post "HOPE".  All of the comments we so nice and they really brighted my day so from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU.

When my son was younger, he was obsessed with Moster Trucks so naturally when they came to town we had to go :D  I got some really great pics to scrapbook and this is what I came up with:

He was so excited to get up close to the trucks and meet the drivers!

For the title, I used my Cricut Basic George Cart to cut the triangles.  Next I inked the edges with silver metallic ink.  I wanted to give it the look of metal.  I found these really great diamond plated letters that were just perfect and added some silver brads to finish it out.  For the background paper, I used his little monster truck toy with the tires full of paint and just rolled it all over to create my tire marks.  This is the same technique I used on the "Bad to the Bone" layout.

You know I had to get a pic with the big pretty hot pink truck, lol :D

Hope you have a great weekend, I'll be back on Monday!!

Hope

Last night I got a chance to work on the canvas that I started on a couple of days ago.  If you're a fan on FB then you've already seen a couple of sneak peeks of this piece ;D

Boy, let me tell you......my mojo was in full effect last night and I've very proud of this piece.
This is a 10x10 Canvas, titled "Hope"

Ready to see this baby come together.....well then, let's get started!!

I started out by speading some gesso on with my palette knife to create some interesting texture.  At this point I had no idea what I wanted to do and it took a couple of days for me to get back to it.

I grabbed my favorite shades of blue soft body acrylics and did a little color blocking.  Then I adheared some vintage sheet music and book text in the white spaces.

The darker blue needed to be toned down a bit so I used my gesso to stencil on some clocks.  The template I used is a 6x6, Crafters Workshop.

I don't like to waste anything since supplies are so expensive so I flipperd my stencil over and used my brayer to stamp with the left over paint.

Next I toned everything down with a wash of burnt sienna fluid acrylic and started playing around with different elements.  I knew I wanted to use this stamp so I stamped her on some kraft paper, cut her out and started layering around her.  I wanted to frame her so I cut some cardboard and ripped the top layer off and gave it a light wash with white fluid acrylic.

I thought the cardboard needed a little something behind it so I found a dryer sheet and adhearded it on.  Yup....you read right, lol A DRYER sheet!!  See, you can use ANYTHING in mixed media!!

I thought these were gonna be copper embossed wings on my lady but my embossing ink was out so it didn't work out.  On to plan B: more layering behind the cardboard.  I inked them up with TH distress ink an then some paint.

Okay....if you've been visiting me for awhile now then you know that there is always a point where I stop taking pictures.  It's always towards the end of my project because  I start to get in the zone and forget to take pics, lol, but here are the finishing touches:

I used a TH stamp for my sentiment "Encourage your HOPES, not your fears" and a BoBunny flourish rubon under the roses.

The gold roses and bling are all Recollections from Michaels.

I used my Prisma color pencils to color in my stamp a little bit.

Well, I hope you liked this piece as much as I do!!  Let me know what you think :D

Thank you for stopping by today!!!!

A Season to Remember

When my son was little we let him try all of the different sports.  At four he tried soccer and that was interesting.  It only took him being kicked on time for him to start running the opposite way on the field, lol.  We would joke that he was on the field counting the butterflies instead of paying attention to the game.  When sports season came around again the next year, we tried T-Ball and it went a lot better.  I guess because he just had to be out there in small spirts.  He did a really great job and looked super cute too!!  For him sports all about making new friends more than anything, lol.  He's not the most athletic child but that's okay because he makes up for it in the classroom.  There he's a definate ALL-STAR :D

Only one more day til the weekend....WOOT WOOT!!!

1st Time

Happy Hump Day....see I told you this week would fly by ;D  Before you know it the fabulous weekend will be here!!  Alright, today I have a layout I did for a couple of firsts.  It was the 1st time we took our travel trailer "Beauty" out and the 1st time my son went fishing.

This layout goes with "I Just Love This Guy".  It's not really a two page layout because they each have their own subject matter but they do coordinate.  I used some LYB patterened paper and rubons.  The background paper came from my LSS and I really loved the watercolor wash it had.

I cut the title with my Cricut and popped my journaling up with some foam adhesive.  I also did some journaling in Photoshop.

Here is a closer look at that beautiful background paper and LYB rubons.

I started working on a new painting last night but I have no clue where I'm going with it.  All I know is I wanna use some of those beautiful stamps I picked up at my local Stamp store a couple of weekends ago.  So stay tuned for that ;D

Have a Wonderful Day!!

Esty ??

I was hoping to get a little advise from you all regarding Esty.  How many of you sell on Esty and what is your overall experieance?  Would you recommend selling there?  Right now I only sell my art locally but I would love to extend it to online and was thinking that Esty might be a good place for me.  I would love to hear any advise you may have :D

Here's Sandy this morning up in the studio.  She's 7 months now and I'm hoping she stays on the small side.

Thanks for your input!!!

Hero Island - Universal Studios

Hi Friends!!  I hope everyone had a smooth Monday.  If not, believe me the weekend will be here in a blink of an eye, lol.  Ok, so remember when I posted Kappow - Capt. America last week?  I said I had some more comic book themed layouts to share......well here they are:

This two page layout is on black cardstock.  I found some comic book paper at my LSS for the city scene.

The title is a sticker (Marvel Heroes) and rubon letters.  I cut out the superheros on the left form my nephew's toy box. I used a silver metallic pen for the journaling and the phots are from our trip to Universal Studios.

I added the journaling on this one in Photoshop.  I wanted to stay with the comic book style.  Well, it's time to tend to that to do list.  I have A LOT of cleaning to do today :(  I'd much rather be creating somthing pretty but if I don't clean NO ONE will so I better get to it.

Thanks for visiting me today & have a blessed day!!

So Are You Ready For a Little OWL Fun........
well then check out my project :D

This is a 11x14 Mixed Media Canvas called "Dreams II".  My inspiration was a little stuffed owl I found on Pinterest by Skunkboy Creatures.  I decided to make my own paper pieced version.  Once I cut out all the pieces, I inked them up with some TH Distress Ink in Vintage Photo.

My background is made up of various patterned papers from my scrap bins.  When I'm working on a mixed media piece, I always reach for my scraps.  It's a really great way to use them up.  Once the adhesive was dry, I washed over the edges with some Liquitex Soft Body Acrylic in Brilliant Purple to kind of give a twilight effect.  Next, I set my little lady in place and started layering her up with beautiful flourishes and flowers for some dimension.

I used some buttons for her eyes, Recollections Rhinestone Embellishments and a chipboard heart just for fun.  Her cute little banner is by K&Company.

The quote I used reads:
"Every great Dream begins with a dreamer.
Always remember, you have within you
the Strength, the Patience,
and
the Passion
to reach for the stars
to change the world."
Harriet Tubman

I really enjoyed working on this project and I hope you liked as much as I do!

This week I'm doing a little traveling so I brought along my art journal and a few supplies.  On the way I played around a little with an owl since they're the theme of Heather's blog hop on Friday.

All I had with me was some sketch and water color pencils.  I cut the words out from some magazines and glued them on.  This was a really fun exercise and I have another sketch in the works :D  Well, its really late & its been a long day so I should really go to bed.
Take care friends!!

Kappow - Capt. America

Happy Tuesday everyone!  I've got a very cool layout to share with you today :D This is from our trip to Universal Studios a few years ago.  I was inspired by a layout I saw in an issue of Scrapbooks Etc so I set out to make my own version.  I cut the large shape with my Cricut and I printed the Kappow then mounted it on chipboard.  I attached the vellum America with some white paint and used some chipboard letter for Capt.  Ok..now you know I just had to ink up the edges to finish it out, lol! Captain America was so nice to my little guy :D  We had such a great time meeting all the superheroes.  I'll share some more comic book themed layouts in the future ;D  Before I go, I wanna give you a quick update on the upcoming Blog Hop!  I picked up my blog candy for Friday and will post a pic on Thursday.  Last but certainly not least, I'd like to welcome our newest friend Kelly!!  Thanks so much for joining us and thanks to everyone for taking the time to leave me a comment.  I really look forward to reading them each day :D  That's it for now, take care!!

New Supplies!!

I hope you had a wonderful Father's Day.  Over the weekend I had a chance to visit one of last scrapbook stores still open in my area Stamp Antonio.  I thought they had closed down but it turns out they just moved.  When I went in, I was delighted to see their new line of stamps designed by one of the owners.  I picked up several sets and some Crafters Workshop templates.

Aren't those images great!!  I'm not sure if you can make out the stamps on the bottom left but those are day of the dead and Frida.  I can't wait to try these out on a canvas :D  I found the MME products over at Home Goods.  I always look for scrapbook supplies there because they're always priced so good. Over the weekend I also finished up my project for Heather's Blog Hop on Friday so be sure to join us for that.  There is an amazing prize pack and many prize opportunities along the way.  I'm hoping to figure out the random picker thing because I wanna get in on the giveaway action too.  ;D  Well it's time for me to tend to business so talk to ya later!!

Two Peas in a Pod - The Grinch, Universal Studios

This is one of my favorite layouts, not because of the design & composition but because of the photos.   As you know by now, my DH is a complete nut, lol.  He can also be a BIG Grinch during Christmas, but luckily (for him) that has changed over the years :D  So when we went to Universal Studios he had a little fun with the Grinch:

I really had fun scraping these pics!  The journaling up top reads:
Yes, it's true my husband has been called a Grinch before.  At one time I even thought they may have been separated at birth but I'm happy to report that he can no longer be called Grinch.

See the resemblance!!  Leave it to him to try and choke the Grinch, lol :D  The Dr. Suess quote was just perfect for this photo, don't you think!

The bottom journaling reads: You see when Joshua was born his heart grew three sizes that day!  Now a days he looks forward to Christmas morning just to see the smiles on Joshua's face as he opens his gifts.

Well, I hope you enjoyed today's post!  Have a Wonderful Father's Day weekend!!
Thank you all for comments & Welcome to our newest friends Analisa & Gina, THANKS so much for joining us :D

Young at Heart - Disney

Thank you for all you nice comments on yesterday's post "Catch of the Day", I loved reading them :D
All of my posts this week have been dedicated to my DH in honor of Father's Day so here is another one!

I dug through my scrap bin for this layout.  You can tell by looking at the orange/brown polka dotted paper, it's the negative pieces of some circles and flowers.  I cut that big heart with my Cricut and the scrolls are rubons.  My hubby just had to get his own pic with Alice, lol.  When we go to Disney, we have to go to 1900 Park Fare at least twice.  It's one of my hubby's favorite breakfast spots.  On this trip we actually ran into Celine Dion, she was coming in for breakfast too.  Boy....she looks way different without makeup!  Her security team came in before her to make sure everything was ready and then in she came in her workout clothes.
Well, hope everyone is having a wonderful week and has an even better weekend!!!

Erin Blegen: My Scrap Cabin: Welcome to My Housewarming Party!! GIVEAWAYS!!!

Erin Blegen: My Scrap Cabin: Welcome to My Housewarming Party!! GIVEAWAYS!!!: Hello everyone and welcome to My Scrap Cabin!! If you're here because you were a follower of Scrappin' Sisters , I am relieved you have fou...

Catch of the Day - Universal Studios

My DH was my catch, lol.  I'm sure he would love to bag a shark like this.  He loves fishing so this pic at Universal Studios was a must:

This is a super simple layout because the background LYB paper was so beautiful that I didn't wanna cover it up.  So I just mounted the photos and cut out the boat from some pp in my stash.  The blue border on the side is from my stash too.  I used some specialty paper with a ridge like texture for the title.  Oh and I cut the title with my Cricut :D

I choose white puffy letters to make sure they would pop off of the busy background of the photo.  My hubby is ALWAYS silly so he had to go put his head in JAWS's mouth!!

Well my chores and work are both waiting so I've gotta run.  Oh before I forget, I did get a chance to work on the piece I shared on FB and I'm really excited about how it's turning out and wait to show you!
Take Care!!!
Thanks for stopping by & commenting!!!

Yummy Ice Cream!

Hi Friends!  I hope you all are enjoying your summer.  It feels like is going so fast around here.  We were just busy with birthdays and now Father's Day is right around the corner.  I also started babysitting my grandson while my son & daughter-in-law are working  so I've had very little time for blog reading, posting and creative play.  I did manage to get a little fun in last night and posted a sneak peak on my FB page so hop over and check that out!  Ok, today I have a layout of my DH and my youngest sharing some yummy ice cream :D

I used my Cricut to cut the title for this layout.  I love using the shadow feature to add depth to the lettering.  I also added some buttons on the dots of the pattern paper for some dimension.  To finish things off I used some ribbon and chipboard accents.

My DH was sugaring him up for me!!  I hope you enjoyed today's post, I've gotta run.  My DH had to go out of town on business today so my son and I tagged along.  We hit IKEA before heading home and I picked up a new Billy bookcase for my studio.  I really wanna get it set up tonight :D so I better get to work!

Take Care & as always, THANKS so much for stopping by & leaving me such kind comments!!

I Just Love This Guy

The weekend flew by but let me tell you, we had a blast celebrating my son & daughter-in-law's birthdays.  Now it's time to focus on Father's Day, so I'm gonna be sharing layouts I've done featuring my DH.

We took off to the coast the day after Thanksgiving one year for some fishing.  My honey caught enough Reds for a yummy fish fry with our family and friends when we got back.

Well, I'm gonna try work a little in the studio tonight so I'm gonna let you go.  Heather's Blog Hop is creepin up fast!!  Take care & Thanks for stopping & for the birthday wishes!!
