Faith, Hope & Love, Paper Mache Heart

Happy Monday my sweet bloggie friends!!  I hope you all had a fabulous weekend.  Ours was busy but oh so fun.  On Friday my son graduated from his D.A.R.E. program at school so we took him and a couple of his friends to see Ironman 3.  The movie was great, you should go see it if you haven't already.  Then on Saturday and Sunday, I had a chance to work on some projects.   This week I'll be focusing on getting ready for the SoFlo Market on Saturday.  So today I'm sharing one of the hearts I completed yesterday:

When I draw out my ladies, I always try to give each one a different hair style.  I think the hair plays a big part in how the rest of the heart turns out.  For this one, I was inspired by the photo that my friend Paula from Scrap Your World shared of her gorgeous daughter.  The face doesn't look like Paula's daughter but her hair is pulled up to the side like her daughter wore to prom.  When I saw the photo of her right after her hair appointment, I knew right away that my next heart would have her up-do because she looked so beautiful.

You know the funny thing about these hearts is that they some how end up looking like someone I know.  I don't do it intentionally but we tend to draw from what we know right.  So when I was done, I laughed because this one looks so much like me niece Monica to me.

Tomorrow I'll be sharing another heart that I completed yesterday and hopefully I'll get a few more done by Friday.  Thanks so much for stopping!

Have A Beautiful Day!!

Happy Birthday Beautiful - Zeus and Zoe May Challenge

Happy Saturday Everyone!  Today I'm sharing my May challenge layout inspired by Riikka's gorgeous mood board.  Here is the LINK to the challenge in case you wanna take a look at the mood board and check out the fabulous prizes that this month's sponsors May Arts and Couture Creations are giving away to the winners.

My sweet little grand daughter just turned one and when I saw Riikka's board, I knew these pics of her birthday would be perfect.  I stayed with the soft pinks mixed with white and a tiny punch of fuchsia.  (You know I just couldn't resist adding a bright bold color, lol).

The base of layout is pink Bazzill, then a distressed layer of My Mind's Eye Lost & Found and on top of that is a piece of 7 Dots Studio, Love Me Hopefully from my Zeus and Zoe kit.  The 7 Dots paper had really cute medallions on it so I cut all of them out to use as embellishments.  I punched the top and bottom with a Martha Stewart scallop punch.  Next I stenciled some dots here and there with gesso and gave the edges a light white wash.

To matte my photo, I used some of the Paper Reflections accordion tags and a vintage handwritten letter.    Then I layered the circles that I cut out and a couple of the beautiful vintage crotchet trims from my Zeus and Zoe kit.

I painted over some of the gold buttons and the Prima Ruby Violet flowers to tone them down to match my layout.

I added a bow on her giant cupcake cake using some May Arts ribbon.

To finish off my layout, I added my usual doodling around the edges.  I just really like the idea of framing my projects and doodling does the trick for me.

Thanks so much for joining me today, I hope I've inspired you to play along with our May Challenge!

HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY!!!

This month I created a 9x12 mixed media canvas featuring some unique flowers.  Can you tell which PWP stamp I used on my flowers?!  Well if you guessed the butterfly stamp, then you are correct!  I've had this idea for awhile but just never got around to trying it until now.  I simply stamped the set of wings then cut them in half.

Here's a closer look at them.

I embossed and inked all of the edges of my petals then curled and glued them on.

This bird chippie if from the Blue Fern Royal Bird Frame.  All I did was cut the piece I wanted to use, gesso'd, sprayed with Dylusions inks and stamped with the PWP Flourish stamps.

My background is vintage sheet music, paint, some Build A Shine and Flourish stamps.

I really like the fun bright colors of this canvas.  It feels happy to me.  What do you think?!  Well I hope you enjoyed the hop, I know my DT sisters worked hard on their projects and we all appreciate you hopping with us!  Please stop by the Paper Wings Productions Blog next and let us know what you thought of the hop.

Hello, Hello my sweet bloggie friends!!  I hope you all had a great Monday!  I had a super quick post yesterday because I had to get to my son's school.  This week is jam packed with both school and extra curricular activities plus looming DT deadlines but you know I have to be honest.   I love the stress of being under pressure and I think I do some of my best work when I'm under the gun.  I can get a little crazy but it's it's all good, lol.  Anyway, I'm still trying to get ready for my next SoFlo Market so I'm still making some Dia De Los Muertos projects and this is my latest tag:

This lively couple is a Paper Wings Productions stamp.

Here's a closer look at the background and colorful accents.  The next market is on May 11th and whatever doesn't sell will be going on Etsy.

Thanks so much for all your sweet comments on my last paper mache heart "Stronger".  I'm so glad you guys liked her and her bold color.  Thanks so much for stopping by and have a beautiful day!

Dia De Los Muertos Treat Boxes

It's Fiesta time here in San Antonio and bright colors can be seen EVERYWHERE along with beautiful Dia De Los Muertos creations.  With so much inspiration around, I had to pull out some skeleton treat boxes!

This is freehand mixed with some beautiful Paper Wings Productions stamps.

The cute little flowers on the sides are from the beautiful Paper Wings Productions Frida Por Vida Stamp set.  I also used a set of wings from the Mini Wings Stamp set.

This one kinda reminds me of a Mexican wrestler's masks, lol.

The ribbon runs around the whole skull and a metal button finishes it off on top.  I'll be taking these guys with me to the next SoFlo Market!

Thanks so much for stopping by, I truly appreciate all of your kind words!!

Have a Beautiful Day!!

Fiesta flowers

Did you guys get a chance to check out my altered train case yesterday?  Here's the link in case you missed it: Mixed Media Monday.  Today I'm featuring the same PWP Mixed Media kit but I'm only using the stamp set which can also be purchased separately HERE.

This is an 8x8 canvas called "Fiesta Flowers".  Here in San Antonio we just kicked off our two week long Fiesta celebration and bright beautiful colors like these can be seen through out our lovely city.  If you'd like to find out more, visit http://www.fiesta-sa.org/ for all the details.

I was inspired by these beautiful stain glass windows in the Royal Melange stamp set.  They reminded me of flowers and so these beautiful blossomed right before my eyes.

I started out with my favorite light blue soft body acrylic then stamped the medallions onto the canvas and drew the flowers around them.

The flowers are colored in with a mixture of acrylic and gouache paints.  Then I stamped the medallions again on the cardstock included in the April Mixed Media kit, fussy cut and embellished with paint and a white gel pen.

I randomly stamp some of the other stamps in the set and doodled around the edges.

Did you all notice anything different on this painting?!..................No words!!  At the SoFlo Market, one of the other artisans suggested that I do some paintings with no words to reach a larger market so I thought it was worth a try.  So what do you think?!  Do you like sentiments on my work, prefer them without or are indifferent?  I'd love to hear from you so please share your thoughts.

I've entered this project is the Simon Says Stamp and Show - Color Challenge

Thanks for stopping by and have a beautiful, inspired & colorful day!!!

VIVA FIESTA!!
