By the Sea Tag

I had fun getting nice and messing creating this "By the Sea" tag over the weekend.  I've been playing around with a new debossing technique and I think I finally got it down but more on that later (wink, wink).  Anyway, here is my tag!

It's got kind of tear drop shape because I layered a torn piece of cardboard on my tag.  To create this tag, I use the Paper Wings Productions July Nesting Components kit, Lindy's Stamp Gang inks, #10 tag, cardboard, molding paste, stazon, twine and the Cricut Stand & Salute cartridge.

I started out by applying molding paste to the tag and cardboard then stamping the fish stamp from the Seaside stamp set.  Next I spritzed everything with Lindy's Stamp Gang inks.

I cut the anchor at 3.5" using the Stand & Salute cartridge and then embossed it with Zig metallic embossing powder.  The embossing powder really gives it the look of iron don't you think?!  After that, I just wrapped some twine around the anchor.

I fussy cut a couple of the clip art images from the kit.

I added some of the beautiful embossing powder from the kit around the edges and some of the rubons throughout the tag.

I also tucked in some white washed Pink Paislee Luxe Circles from the kit and tied the gorgeous trim to the tag.  I love the irregular shape and all of the texture that I was able to work into this tag.   The sea theme of this kit is just so much fun to work with!!  If you'd like to pick up your own kit, visit the Paper Wings Productions online store HERE.   You could even pick up the Lindy's Stamp Gang inks I used on this tag there.

Well friends, thanks so much for joining me on this little trip down by the sea!  Have a beautiful day!!!!

This month I created a 9x12 mixed media canvas featuring some unique flowers.  Can you tell which PWP stamp I used on my flowers?!  Well if you guessed the butterfly stamp, then you are correct!  I've had this idea for awhile but just never got around to trying it until now.  I simply stamped the set of wings then cut them in half.

Here's a closer look at them.

I embossed and inked all of the edges of my petals then curled and glued them on.

This bird chippie if from the Blue Fern Royal Bird Frame.  All I did was cut the piece I wanted to use, gesso'd, sprayed with Dylusions inks and stamped with the PWP Flourish stamps.

My background is vintage sheet music, paint, some Build A Shine and Flourish stamps.

I really like the fun bright colors of this canvas.  It feels happy to me.  What do you think?!  Well I hope you enjoyed the hop, I know my DT sisters worked hard on their projects and we all appreciate you hopping with us!  Please stop by the Paper Wings Productions Blog next and let us know what you thought of the hop.

Wings - Art Journal

Happy Wednesday my sweet, sweet bloggie friends!  I hope everything is well in your part of the world.  For me all is fine but yesterday I was in a bit of a slump.  Not for any particular reason, just the normal cycles of life I guess.  So I sat down flipping through my smaller art journal and this beautiful background filled will vibrate colors popped out at me just begging to be finished.  Now I have to be honest, I really wasn't in the mood for creating but I've come to realize that it's during these times that its most important to forge on and so I began.  As I worked, I could feel my spirit lifting, my eyes twinkling with excitement and a smile forming on my face as my page came to life.  Ah.....the power of art at its best, and in the end this is what my heart had to share:

I'm not always good at putting my thoughts and feelings into words.  Truthfully, I like keeping them to myself most of the time.  So I tend to look for quotes that express them for me.  Sometimes I choose a quote to use because its what I need to hear or remind myself of at the time.

Since I've been art journaling so much lately, I went to bed thinking about what it really means to me.  What I came up with is that art journaling is more than just a way for me learn.  It's a way for me to share the colors of my soul.

Art journaling is a very personal thing.  We all have our own personal styles of expression.  You know, I often create things with others in mind.  I worry if they're good enough, will my project by liked, would someone want to buy it and so on but these are just for me.

They're the pieces of my soul that I get to keep.  They're the story of my creative journey and through the layers of paint, paper, inks and twine my heart gets to shine purely for me, for my own happiness.

So I have to say, I especially loving the way this page turned out!

I hoped you didn't mind this other side of me today and that I made some kind of sense, lol.  One of my goals this is year is to be more open with my feelings instead of always keeping them locked up.  I'm usually a very quite person but my mind is always racing.  My inner voice is always speaking to me helping me find balance and work my way through this crazy life, lol.

Thank you all so much for stopping by today!  If you've never tried art journaling, I hope I've inspired you to give a try.  Have a BEAUTIFUL day!
