Valentine's Day - Linda

Hey there!  I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!!  I'm super excited about the project I'm sharing with you today.  I'd like to introduce you to Linda (which means pretty in Spanish):

All of my Day of the Dead projects have sold so well that I thought I'd do a Valentine's Day version and I'm so pleased with the way she came out.

I started out by painting her face.  I chose to stick with the traditional Valentine's Day colors of red, pink and white.  I did most of it freehand but did use Paper Wings Production stamps for the flowers on the temples and the heart on her forehead.  With the face done, I moved onto building the body.

First I built my stand using cardboard and the lid of a jar.  I drilled a hole and inserted a dowel,  then I wrapped floral wire around the dowel, secured with glue and formed the arms.  Next I wrapped all of the wire with white floral tape.

Once the arms were all wrapped up, I added clay to form a torso and let it cure for 24 hours.

Once the clay was dry, I painted the torso and arms with gesso.  Then I used the packaging from the Donna Downey stencil that came in my PWP Jan Mixed Media kit to make a skirt.

Now this is where the fun starts!  I added a collar bone with my Signo pen and started dressing her up.  For her skirt, I used fuchsia lace trim from Hobby Lobby and white lace trim from my stash.  For the shawl, I just used a scrap a red fabric from my stash.

Her wings were cut from the Making Memories Sabrina collection and I used the Sizzix Angel Wings die.  I sewed around all of the edges then inked with Tim Holtz Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.

I added a cute little glittered heart to the back of the wings.

To finish her off, I just gave her a heart, rose and angel to hold.

I'm just thrilled with the way this project turned out and I hope you like it too!  Thank you so much for joining me today & I'd like to send out a warm welcome to my newest bloggie friends Tara and Anita!!  Ladies, thanks so much for following along!!!!

Have a BEAUTIFUL Monday!!

I entered this project in the D.L Art Thankful Thursday Challenge: #102 Use Red or Pink.
