Sunshine Award

I had a very sweet surprise from Karon today, she gave me the Sunshine Blog Award.  Karon thank you so much for thinking of me, you really made my day.

If you don't know Karon yet, I encourage you to visit her blog and get to know her.  Besides being super talented, she's also a very kind and sweet person.

This is a really fun award because you have to ask and answer 10 questions about yourself.  Then pick some friends to pass the award on to.  Here are the official Sunshine Award rules:

1.  Include award logo in blog post.
2. Thank the blogger who gave it to you and include a link back to them.
3. Answer 10 questions about yourself, that you have made up yourself.
4. Nominate 10-12 bloggers and contact them at their blog site to inform them

Okay let's get started :D

1.  Where are you from?
I'm born and raised in beautiful San Antonio, Texas.

2.  Have you always lived there?
No, I lived in Germany for three years and then in Colorado for two while I served in the U.S. Army.

3.  What did you want to be when you were young?
I wanted to be a Psychiatrist or FBI profiler.  I'm so fascinated with the criminal mind and trying to figure out why they do what they do.

4.  What is your favorite TV show?
I don't get to watch TV that often but when I do my favorite show to watch is Criminal Minds.  I love how they start and end with a quote and all of the profiling and crime solving.  Reed is my favorite character because he reminds me so much of my youngest son.

5.  What inspired your love of art?
My big brother Frank.  I'm the youngest of 5 and I totally looked up to everything my big brother Frank did.  He's 11 years older than me and when he was in high school he took an art class.  He drew so good and was able to draw things from his imagination.  I remember this one sketch in particular, it was of the earth and it had a face and arms.  It was covering it's ears and was making an angry face.  I guess the earth was unhappy with the way we treat it.

6.  When did you start scrapbooking?
I started scrapbooking after the birth of my youngest son.

7.  Why did you start scrapbooking?
I started scrapbooking because I wanted preserve my family's memories.  I've always been crafty but was never interested in scrapbooking until my mother passed away.  When she passed, I received a lot of old photos that she held on to and I had no idea who the people in the photos were or why she had saved them.  So I wanna make sure that my children and grandchildren get know me better through the photos and stories that are important to me.  I want them to know about our family and where we come from.

8.  How old were you when you started driving?
I didn't start driving until I was 20 years old.  I taught myself to drive when I was in the military.  I was deployed to the Middle East and they needed my to have a driver's licence so I was given a licence without any kind of test.  I bought my very first car when I came back from Saudi and didn't know how to turn on the lights or put gas.  I picked it up at a port 6 hrs away from where I lived and had to drive back home in the dark.  This was in Germany, so the first time I really drove was on the autobahn, at night, in rain and snow (yikes, scary).

9.  Are you shy or very outgoing?
I would definitely have to say shy especially in large groups but I can be outgoing too.  It just depends on how comfortable I feel at the time.

10.  Where is your favorite place to be?
The beach, it's so beautiful and peaceful.  Whenever I'm there I feel like all my problems are gone and everything is just perfect.  Especially when my family is there with me.

Alright enough about me, lol!  Here are my bloggie friends that I'm passing the award onto:

  6. Hi Norma - thanks for the lovely compliment:-) Great Q & A! I wanted to let you know what I said in my reply on your comment on my blog - as I am never sure if anyone ever comes back to see what I have said. "I am so glad you accepted the award and your nieces artwork is awesome, can't wait to see more. Norma you are such an inspiration to everyone and I really do not know where you go when you are creating things, but it must be somewhere wonderful as your creations are amazing." Have a great day.
