Art Journal - I am.....

Thank you all for your sweet comments on yesterday's post, "Love Birds".  I'm so glad you all liked it and enjoyed seeing it come together.  Today I finished up an art journal page that I started over the weekend.  This page is the very first page of my Donna Downey Inspiration Journal.  As you can probably tell from my page I was needing some reminders and what better way to start the journal right....

This actually started out with some left over molding paste from a stencil, Postbox Red Dylusions and some gold paint.  You can see what it looked like on my FB page: HERE.

I did a little more stenciling, inking and highlighting while I thought about what I wanted this page to be and say.  Then it hit me "I choose to be happy" like in Rihanna's song.

So with my favorite Signo pens I started adding my lettering and did some doodling.

I actually stamped this on the inclusion back in December and it ended up working great for this page.  All this has is some over spray from the other page, some inking and the journaling.

I even added little hearts to the doodling down the seam :D  Thanks for stopping by today.  I truly appreciate every visit and comment.  Have a Beautiful Day!!!

I Love Art - Art Journal Page

Hey there!  I've been playing around in my art journal trying to get more familiar with my Dylusions Inks.  So this is my latest art journal page and it's done entirely in inks:

I started with the page on the right using the Donna Downey stencil that came in my PWP Jan Mixed Media kit.  I really like this stencil and have been using it on just about everything lately.

To create this background I simply sprayed my page with various Dylusions inks so you'll notice there is a lot of white because of the stencil.

Since I had a lot of ink on my stencil, I flipped it over for this side and pressed it down.  Personally I like this side better because I like having a lot of color.  White space designs are difficult for me because I always having a nagging urge to cover everything, lol.

Next I did some more stenciling using the Prima mask from my PWP Jan Mixed Media kit because I'm trying to perfect that technique.  I've having trouble getting it to give me a good impression that I'm able to use.

I did a bit of doodling and stamping too.

So these pages were all about learning and one thing I learned is that Fixatif won't keep these inks from smearing.  The other thing I realized is that it's REALLY hard to get white Liquitex Ink to stay white.  It kept picking up the colors under it.

So I think I'll keep playing until I master my inking techniques ;D  Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!!

She Remained True - Mixed Media Canvas

Hello my sweet bloggie friends and Happy Tuesday!!  I hope all is well in your part of the world.  Everything has been great around here, just busy with a bunch of school meetings because my little one will be making the big leap to middle school soon.  I can't believe how fast time flies, it seems like he was just starting kindergarten yesterday.  I've also been having fun playing with the New PWP February Mixed Media kit so keep an eye for that tomorrow ;D

While I was working on my last couple of projects, I've had a canvas off to the side that I've been adding to here and there.  So today I'm happy to share the finished piece with you:

This is a 10x10 canvas that I'm calling "She Remained True".  The title is inspired by the beautiful Donna Downey stamped sentiment I used on this piece.  That's such a beautiful thought isn't it?!  With life constantly changing it's so important to remain true to yourself don't think?  It's something I definitely strive for daily :D

To create this piece, I started by applying some of my scraps of patterned paper (you know me, always trying to use up those scraps).  Next I used the Donna Downey stencil from my PWP Jan Mixed Media kit and molding paste to add some texture.

Once my paste was dry I began applying layers of paint and randomly stamped the Stampendous jumbo Dahlia.  I just love how large these stamps are!

Since I've been on a doodling kick lately, I added some swirls with 3-D Enamels.

I stamped another Dahlia on a scrap piece of canvas, fussy cut it and attached to my canvas.  Next I drew in the stem and leaves.  Then I just began adding layers and layers of paint until I was happy with the canvas.  I love creating all kinds of projects but it always feels great to get back to a canvas.

Well friends, THANKS so much for stopping by today!!  I'd like to send out a warm WELCOME to all my new friends that joined me over the last few days!!  I'm so happy to have you here and I look forward to getting to know you!

HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY!!!

Dylusions Art Journal

I finished my very first art journal page in my NEW Dylusions art journal from my PWP January Mixed Media Kit!!

Isn't this fun?!  I just let loose with gesso, paints, inks, Dylusion spray inks and doodling.

In fact I went to town with my doodling and even journaled about it, lol.  I'm definitely on a doodling kick these days, it makes me happy!!

I added some of the Cosmo Cricket chipboard flowers and border stickers from the kit.

I'm really enjoying playing with this kit and can't wait to see what Carrie puts together in the February Mixed Media kit.  If you'd like to purchase the January kit, you can find it HERE but hurry because they're almost sold out!

Have a FABULOUS weekend & THANKS so much for stopping by today!!!!

Tag - PWP Mixed Media Kit

Hello, Hello!  Last night I played with my PWP Jan Mixed Media Kit so I'd like to share the tag I created:

I used the craft tag that came with the kit and both of the stencils from the kit to create the background.  I really wish I would have taken a pic before I began layering on top of it.  I used Distress inks, gesso and Dylusions.

Next I added some of the Cosmo Cricket Art Angel border stickers and doodled around them with the black Signo pen that came in the kit and my white Signo.  I stamped the butterfly wings and embossed with Donna Salazar's Mix'd Media Truffle inx.  Both the stamp and the embossing powder are included in the kit.  Even the cardstock I used is from the kit :D.  I colored in the wings with my Tim Holtz Distress Markers and rolled some book text for the body.

The cute image of the two little girls is from the Cosmo Cricket Art Angels Element Deck, also included in the kit.  I colored the little girls in with Distress Markers, Prismacolor pencils and my white Signo pen.

Finally I added another set of wings to the little girl and some ribbon and scrap fabric.

I'm planning on using this tag in an art journal page that I'm working on.  If you're interested in the PWP Jan Mixed Media Kit  you still have a chance to pick one up for yourself but don't wait too long!  There are only four kits left so get yours before they're all gone!!

Thank you so much for stopping by today and for all of your sweet comments and birthday wishes for my grandson!!!

HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY!!!

Make a Wish!

Happy Wednesday!  I hope your week is going smooth so far, ours has been great.  We celebrated my grandson's 2nd birthday on Monday so I spent yesterday with him enjoying his new toys.  I got some really great pictures too and wanted to scrapbook.  So I pulled out my little portable HP photo printer (my big one broke) and started printing some pics.  It's been so long since I scrapbooked that I didn't know where to start, lol.  Then I realized that I should just do what I do on all my other projects, doodle, stencil, fussy cut and mist!

The background paper is BoBunny and I doodled around all the edges.  Next I pulled out the Donna Downey stencil that came in my PWP January Mixed Media kit, some gesso and randomly stenciled. I have to tell you, I've used a lot of stencils and this has to be one of the best ones I've used.  It was thicker and stayed to really good as I was stenciling.

I cut some scraps of yellow and red papers, ran them through my sewing machine and inked the edges.  I matted my photos with paper from the My Mind's Eye Party Time Paper Pack and of course I had to add a little cardboard.  I used a lot of stickers off of the Deja Views Birthday pack.

I used Mickey and Friends to cut the number two.  To finished things off I did some journaling.  It felt really good to do some scrapbooking.  I definately need to start scrapping our special moments again.  Thanks so much for stopping by, HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY!!

Believe - Art Journal

Good Monday Morning to you all!  This morning I'm sharing an art journal page that I finished up last night:

Sorry the isn't that great, I'm in a bit of a rush this morning because it's my grandson's birthday so there is still lots to do in preparation for this evening's festivities ;D

This is a background I did at my Donna Downey workshop a few months ago.  I adhered a paper towel to my page for texture then stamped a Donna Downey flower onto tissue paper, fussy cut and applied to the page.

So last night I added the second flower, the butterfly, Donna Downey Unity stamp, did some doodling and added some scraps of paper here and there.

For the inclusion, I painted it to match my page and added this cute little Cosmo Cricket Angel that was in my PWP Jan Mixed Media Kit.  She was actually on a tag but I fussy cut so it would show more of the background.

I added another tissue flower, some more doodling and the rest of the Donna Downey Unity quote.  This came together very fast since my background was already done.  I think I'm enter this in the Simon Say's Challenge for this week.  They want to know what you're best known for so it's anything goes.  That's kinda a hard question though, I think I'm best known for lots of layers, bright colors, lots of texture and details.  I don't know, what do you think?

Alright I better go because I have a lot to do for the birthday boy.  Thank's for joining me and have a beautiful day!!

Pan Pastel Art

Happy Wednesday!  We've made it halfway through the week and it's going fast!  I've been quite the busy bee trying to get ready for my craft show on Saturday.  Only three days left if I count today and I still have so much to do, YIKES!  I've completed two new project but I can't show them to you :(  One is for PWP and the other is for Jenn's Blogaversary on Saturday so be sure to stop by for that.  I'll have some really cool blog candy to giveaway too.

Have you heard of Pan Pastels yet?!  They're a fairly new product that came out in the last three years.  The company is just a small mom & pop (love that) and work out of their garage.  They're similar to pastels in that they're chalky but they are pure pigment so you can get deep rich color in your art.  This was the last Donna Downey workshop I took on Saturday and by this time I was really popped,  so I didn't veer off to much from the example.

This piece is not complete but I'd thought I share it anyway ;D  The textured background was created with tissue paper to give the pan pastels something to grab onto.  I picked up a starter set so  I'm gonna keep practicing with them.  Have you tried any cool new products lately?  It's fun to play with different mediums and techniques isn't it?!

Well, I'm babysitting today so I better get off this computer.  Have a beautiful day and thanks so much for stopping by!

Inspiration Journal

Hey Bloggie Friends!  Hope you had a smooth Monday, I'd like to say mine went smooth but it was a bit bumpy.  Oh well, that's ok......I guess that's what makes life interesting right!  Today I wanna share the Inspiration Journal that I worked on in the Donna Downey Mixed Media workshop on Saturday.

We got to choose from various patterned journals and I was really torn between this one and a funky colored one with birds all over it.  I took this because it's one of my favorite colors but truthfully, I think I'm more of the funky bird motif.......anyway, lol

Come on, you know I had to get her autograph.  I took a pic with her too but it was with my cell phone so I only uploaded it to FB.

Ok, so we played around with all different kinds of mediums.  I covered this page with the paper towel that I was cleaning my brush with because I didn't like what was underneath.  We were playing with some gelatoes and our table only had three colors.  The colors really didn't go together at all so it wasn't pretty.

This one had gelatoes on it too so I covered it up........ah.....much better :D  That cool stamp is by PWP.

This one was just a study in mixing acrylics.  The stamps on this one are PWP too ;D

This one started out being about blowing India Ink with a straw (makes you light headed by the way) then I used it for an inspiration study.  We had to look at a photo and interpret the art.

This one was a doodling exercise.  Gotta say, I'm loving the swirls and flourishes these days.  I feel like I have to put them on everything.

This was another art interpretation exercise.

I think this one was about mixing acrylics too.  I really like this one, hopefully I'll have time to play in the journal soon.  Well friends, that's it for today, thank you so much for stopping by!

Have a inspired day!!

Vintage Mini Album - Donna Downey

Happy Monday!  Did you have a good weekend?  I had a wonderful one because I had the chance to take three Donna Downey workshops :D  I had a really great time!!  She is really nice and down to earth.  The first workshop was on Friday night and we made a vintage mini album.

I decided to make mine a Grandpa and me mini album.  This boy is definitely Grandpa's boy!

Here's a closer look at the embellishments.

This is one of my favorite pics of my grandson.

Aren't those wings awesome!!  The watch is my Tim Holtz.

My handsome DH ;D

The rolled piece under the photo is the top layer that I peeled off of cardboard, cool huh.

I hand cut and rolled the book text flower and the rest are Prima.

This is the last page, I haven't attached the frame yet because I think I'm gonna print some small pics for some of the window panes.  I don't make too many mini albums so it was nice to do something different and it was nice to just follow the kit's design.

Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day!!!

WELCOME DEBORAH!! THANK YOU  so much for stopping by and deciding to joining along!!!!!
