Tomorrow is my big day!
I got a call from Homestead this afternoon saying I could move into my new space on Friday, then an hour later they called back saying I could move in tomorrow. Only problem is, with everything that's been going on, we haven't had a chance to finish building my main display table & I also need enough fabric to cover all of my walls. My space is teeny tiny but hey, you gotta start somewhere, right......My grand daughter is going home tonight so hopefully I can finish up the painting I started on Saturday and get my artwork sealed & priced. Wish me luck! I'll post pics and shop info tomorrow if all goes well.

A Difficult Week - Prayer Request
This week has proved to be very difficult. It started with news that our daughter in law's Dad suffered a heart attack. He is still in the hospital awaiting surgery so we are helping by taking care of our new grand daughter. Then we received the news that one of our fellow boy scout's home burned to the ground on Saturday night. The family graciously volunteered to grill all of the meat for our awards banquet, unfortunately the fire was not completely out and caused the fire. Thankfully, no one was hurt but they lost everything. So please join me in praying for our family and friends during this difficult time.

DIY - Night Stand Makeover
This is a little table that my dear friend Jackie donated for my shop at Homestead. This was just a cosmetic change with paint and a new knob, but it turned out great. Its amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do!
Thank you so much Jackie!!!

Getting a little painting in tonight
I was feeling inspired after our Scout awards banquet so I started on a new project. This is what I have so far, I'm waiting for the gel medium to dry. I started by applying white gesso to the canvas with a palette knife then I used a q-tip to draw some designs into the gesso. Next I used some Liquitex soft body acrylic (color: unbleached titanium) and finally applied pieces of sheet music. I wanted to just transfer the print but it wasn't working for me tonight so I just tore it up and glued them on instead. Not sure where I'm going from here but I'm sure I'll figure it out once my glue dries up ;o)
I used the gel medium to adhere the sheet music
Hello
I hope all of you are having a wonderful Saturday with family and friends. Today is all about scouts for us because we're having our big awards banquet. We're so proud of our little guy :o) Well, have a wonderful day!

Life is Beautiful
Tonight I'm just having fun! I thought my last few paintings were a little dark so I wanted to brighten things up a bit. These are colors that make me happy and I REALLY love.
Hand painted scrolls were done free hand |
This is Golden's Cobalt Teal fluid Acrylics then layered with Cerulean Blue Gouache |
I really wanted to just stop here cuz I really loved the blues. I thought about just adding a sentiment and calling it a day but I ended up adding more, lol.
Featured Artist - Analisa Tapia
Good Morning! I'd like to take a moment today to introduce to you an EXTREMELY talented young artist named Analisa Tapia. I am privaleged to have her as a niece and often turn to her for artistic advise and inspiration. Analisa is currently an art student but also works as a professional artist. I truely admire her ambition and believe in her ability to turn her artistic dreams into reality, so I invite you to visit http://rebelgirl182.deviantart.com/ and browse through her art gallery.

THE AFTERMATH!!!
Creativity is sooo messy.....or maybe it's just me, lol. Normally my studio/office is nice and neat with everything in its place but not the last couple of weeks. I've been pushing paintings out so my space is a mess!
What a mess! |
I even have piles all over the place. You see those orange spots in the carpet? One of my tubes of acrylic paint decided to shoot out of the back all over my carpet. Man, I hate carpet! |
More piles..... |
I think I need more work space, hmmm....... Oh, gotta have some Crystal Light, well only cuz I gave up soda :o( |
Love
I'm on a roll! I got another one done :o) This one has some cardboard, a manila tag that I painted, fabric stickers, scrapbook paper and rub ons.
Well, I think that's it for today cuz the laundry isn't gonna fold itself and my guys are out of socks!
Purpose & Dedication
I just finished this 16x20 canvas this afternoon. I used some of my favorite colors, blues and greens. I painted some flowers, used some rub ons, scrapbook paper and glimmer mist.

Blessings
I was working on this painting on Thursday when we received the call from our son saying the baby was coming and they were already at the hospital. We grabbed our stuff, picked up our youngest from school and then went straight to the hospital. It was a long night and finally at 3:00 am our grand daughter was born. She's the first girl in our family so we are all very excited. Our son gave my husband the perfect birthday gift. Unfortunately she's having a bit of trouble and is in the NICU, but luckily it's nothing major and she should be released very soon. With all the excitement of her birth and my husband's birthday, I hadn't had a chance to get back to painting until today. In light of everything that's happened over the last few days, I knew my sentiment had to be "Blessings" in honor of our newest addition :o)
I used a page from an old hymn book we found at an antique shop, scraps of scrapbooking paper and buttons that belonged to my Mom. |
The hymn is "The Lord Bless You and Keep You". I also used a stamp that reads, " For He Will Command his Angels concerning You to Guard You in all your Ways" Psalms 91:11 |
The hearts are actually the negative space of 12x12 scrapbook paper. The orange paper was is in my scrap stash. |
New Addition
I've been away from the blog for a couple of days because we have a new addition to our family. Our oldest son had a beautiful baby girl!

Let Your Faith Shine
This is last night's painting that I just finished up this morning. I had the background done but needed to think about what I wanted to say; it reads, "Let Your Faith Shine". Yesterday was kinda rough for me so I thought this sentiment was a good reminder to trust in God and let my faith guide me through the day.

Push YOUR Limits
I finished this one up last night. It reads "I've learned along the way to Push the Limits of my comfort zone". I knew what I wanted to say and that led to my color choice. I know they say purple is the color of creativity, but I've never been a fan of the color. In this painting, I really wanted to push my limits and use colors I don't normally use. The whole feeling of the painting to me, is fun, wild and free. I really didn't think too much about it and just let the painting tell me what it wanted to be. In the end this is what I got:
I can see this hanging in a girls room :o) |
Not sure if you can see it, but I used Liquitex Glass Beads texture gel |
Thanks for looking! |
Little Table Makeover
This little guy went from a side table to two table top stands. I took it apart and sanded down the piece before applying primer. Once the primer was dry I went over it with green spray paint and then antique white. I sanded all the pieces down to give them a antique look and let the green peak through. I also added another 18" circle and some bun feet. I'll be using these new stands in my Homestead Crafts booth to display my work.
